AMEX Pre-selected

Just got an email saying :

'You may have been pre-selected for a special Card offer. Apply today, and with any Card you choose, you can start to enjoy the benefits, savings and rich rewards of Cardmembership.'

Is this the same as a 'pre-approval'? Didn't list any card. I clicked on the link and it brought me to my account but i didnt see any card apart from my existing one listed.

What does this mean?

Re: AMEX Pre-selected

Ok now that's too strange.

I already have an AMEX platinum and in my offers, I have been pre-approved for an AMEX Platinum. Does this make any sense to any of you?

Re: AMEX Pre-selected

Lol I called about a product change. I have the Blue but really want BCE. I also saved BCE on the site. Mysteriously, I received a BCE offer in the mail! I'm waiting until next summer to just do the product change...as great as Amex is, I dont need 3!

Since they backdate there really isn't any hit to it.  You may want to wait until the first of the year for that reason but other than no reason not too.  If you want to close the blue next summer then that's fine but if it's a rewards card that will benefit you no real reason to wait that long.

I got the same e-mail too.  And, if I got it, you KNOW its just marketing hype.  I really am convinced the CCCs are doing some heavy marketing for Black Friday Shopping Day, as well as, the upcoming Holidays in general.

Congratulations CS800 on your getting the AMEX BCE by the way -- that's awesome!

Re: AMEX Pre-selected

If AMEX was indeed the one who sent you pre-selected and/or pre-approved information, while logged in to your AMEX account, if you look at the AMEX website where it lists their portfolio of personal cards and you view all the cards, you might see in the left hand column a list of potential upgrades and pre-approved offers.
