AMEX Question

i was charged off by AMEX in 2000 i.e. about 15 years ago. What are the possibilities of me being accepted for a proper AMEX cc. My current scores are in 725 range, six figure pay, mortgage, car loan.. all in good standing.......

Re: AMEX Question

Amex is traditionally pretty unforgiving and unforgetting (if that's a word).  Your scores look and such look good now that they may be willing to extend credit to you again, but I know amex is one to hold grudges for quite some time.  As always, YMMV.  Good luck!

Re: AMEX Question

Thanks for the reply. During these 15 years, I have never applied for any AMEX card. Always thought that they may have blacklisted me.

Re: AMEX Question

More info needed

AAoA

INQ's last 6 months

Baddies

I will say that in most cases if you're on the infamous BLACKLIST you won't see a HP which is a key to where you stand with them

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: AMEX Question

I'd always heard how unforgiving Amex was...

I had a $5k CO with them in 2009 and finally paid them (in settlement...42% of what I owed) at the end of January. March 11th, I was approved for an EveryDay card with a $5k limit with scores in the 660's.

Sooooo... applying is worth a shot.

I only applied to see if I got HP'd (checking for blacklisting) and ended up getting a card. Shocked the #*@( out of me.

Re: AMEX Question

Just forgot: i have a Dillards AMEX card though, however I dont know how much it goes through the AMEX database. It is supposedly Dillard's most elite card according to Dillard's.

It's on a different network so it really has no bearing on whether you would be approved for a 'regular' Amex thru Centurion Bank.

No matter what we say, you're going to need to apply to find out.  You could have an impeccable credit file but if you're blacklisted then you won't get approved.  One HP is going to tell you all that you need to know.
