Does a CL re-allocation have anything to do with CLI eligibility on AMEX?
I currently have an unused Clear at $5000 CL and my daily use card is a BCP at $4500 CL. I'll be due for another CLI on May 1, and would also like to reallocate some of that Clear CL to the BCP. Does a reallocation have any impact on ability to do a CLI, and vice-versa? If I move $4000 of the Clear's CL to the BCP now, would I still be able to do a CLI in May? How about if I waited until after the CLI to do the reallocation? Does completing one of these have any bearing on eligibility to do the other?
Nobody? Wow.
I've been wondering this myself. I want to move some of my limit from my Clear and Blue to my BCP but am unsure if I have to wait until I'm eligible for a CLI. I can see the option to do so online though.
What I'm wondering about is the possibility of getting stuck in this scenario:
1. In May when I am eligible, want to ask for a 3x CLI on the BCP from $4500 to $13500.
2. Let's say they counteroffer with, say, $10000.
3. Might I still be eligible to reallocate the $4000 from Clear to BCP?
4. What if I did the reallocation now and the CLI later? 3x ($4500 + $4000) = $25000 max CL, and they then counter with that same $10000, then I would've "wasted" $4000 in perfectly good CL that could've been reallocated!
IMO I would reallocate it now if you have no use for the other card(s) and worst case scenario they decline on the CLI but the option is always there in the futire to get CLI's.
It's a really good question. Hopefully someone will answer!

I don't know about reallocations. But, the max CLI may also be contingent on your annual income.
@Anonymous: I have not confirmed this. It's just what I experienced. The last CLI I got (tried for another 3x), AmEx countered with just under 25% (24.84%) of my stated annual income. Yet, a few months later they had no problem giving me 3 new cards @ $5k CL each.
I also noticed someone else mentioned a few weeks ago; that their highest CL was 25% of their annual salary, even though their total combined CLs was like 4x their annual salary.
If the 25% of your annual salary per card limitations are real; I'd run the numbers first, to see if your 3x CLI will meet/exceed the 25% mark, or not.
Hey there:
You can do a CLI and then reallocate available credit as long as the accounts have been opened at least a year. I just did it last month!!
Hope this helps!

No , it does not.. I asked for an increase on my blue sky and received it ! Right after , I transfered that amount to my bce! I will still be able to get a cli at 6 months, which is next month. Then I will ask for the cli on my bce.
