Which Citi did you get?
My daughter has the Forward Student. CL is lower for student card, but they said that it will convert to regular card at some point. She needs to get it above a 1K CL before it can really take off. CITI is really good with CLI.
Honestly though, she pretty much uses her AMEX for everything, except for dining, movies, Amazon purchases and books. They are all 5x catagories on Forward...so nothing, not even AMEX can beat that, if you are a spender in those areas.

Dividend Platinum Select Visa for students. I was torn between that and the Forward, but I have been denied the Forward in the past, so I just went with the Dividend. I've heard Citi is good with giving out decent CL's, so I guess I'm proof of that. Still waiting until I get this card in my hand before I really start celebrating...it all just seems to good to be true!
Yeah I have a feeling I'll be using my AMEX just like I would my debit card...write down all purchases in my check register, that way there are no surprises come bill time -I know exactly how much money I really have.

VERY good thinking! You're already ahead of the game if you keep up that way of approaching credit. You might want to consider paying before the statement date as well, not just by the due date (on any card, helps with util & your score). You got very nice cards, esp for your age and score (most people can't score either of those with a 610ish EX fom what I've read.
Big Congrats! (ok, you're gonna hear it a million times, you're young so I'll make it 999,999) Be very careful with those, esp the Zync (ok, I said it, sorry, it's in the old farts handbook, rule 18 paragraph 4 blah blah lol). ![]()

I should probably take the off...that 610 was when I had a collections on my account, and I actually got that score from my denied letter from AMEX ![]()
I'm sure it's higher now.
Yeah I use Mint.com and have them send my reminders a week before my bills are due, that's when I PIF. And my parents said the exact same thing! "be careful with that, it adds up fast" yadda yadda. I guess there really is a handbook! ![]()
@FloridaState12
I got a Zync! I was so happy to see that approval. Then I went to Citi and they gave me the whole 7-10 day spiel. At least one inquiry did not get wasted.
Congrats!!!
Congrats! I know how you feel i'm 20 and I have the ZYNC also and I one thing I must say il ove about the card is the looks on people face when I pull it out and pay. They think I'm so rich when I am not...just very very smart with credit.
