AMEX extending SUB timeframes by 3 months.

If you were approved for an AMEX card between 12/1/19 and 5/31/20 they are extending the usual 3mo SUB timeframe by 3 months. Might be a good time to apply if you would have had a hard time meeting a SUB in 3 months since you now have 6 months to do it.amexsub.jpg

Re: AMEX extending SUB timeframes by 3 months.

That's a pretty sweet offer, especially for those with larger spend requirements. Considering Amex has limited acceptibility.

Unfortunately I've been trying to stay app free, I also don't think Amex is that eager to give me a SUB per the pop up on the last two attempts.

Amex has limited acceptability  is  sometimes thrown around too easily. I live where youd expect less acceptance yet almost everyone accepts Amex.

Ya I've only had one instance where someone didn't take Amex and it was my electric bill. Everyone else takes it

Re: AMEX extending SUB timeframes by 3 months.

Saw this on TPG's Facebook group this morning. This is pretty awesome! Too bad I only have one new card with a bonus I'm working towards (Schwab Platinum), and it doesn't really affect how I was going to meet it in the first place.

I Have Way Too Many of These.

American Express - No CLI or Appreciation Gift in 7 Years

Citibank - Handing Out Credit Limits Like Candy

Chase - Surprisingly, Still Tolerating My Credit-Chasing Ways

Bank of America - My Newest Bae.

Everyone Else.

Re: AMEX extending SUB timeframes by 3 months.

This is a game changer with the modified SUB requirement to 6 months out to 5/31/20. You could apply to AMEX at the end of May and have until the end of November to make the bonus.

But I think its not as effective for some of the cards.

Platinum spend $5000 (5x prepaid hotels/airlines). All the benefits are tied to travel. But will we be post peak by May?

Gold spend $4000 (4x groceries/4x dining). This is more realistic as it would require $667 in groceries or/uber eats in a month.

Green spend $2000 (3x dining/3x travel). Could meet this spend with $333 in uber eats per month or buy a discretionary item.

Out of these 3 options for someone with a CSP already I would think the Green if you can buy enough birthday gifts in 6 months to meet that $2000 spend. Gold would require an additional 10,000 of spend over the Green to cover the increased AF.

Would be great if I could even receive a SUB from them again. Been getting the popup since January.

Amex extending SUB's by 3 months due to COVID-19

Saw this in the "Recommended Cards for You" section of my account:

Due to the impact of COVID-19,
for eligible Card accounts approved from December 1, 2019 through May 31, 2020 for which you are eligible for a welcome offer, the period to make eligible purchases to earn your welcome bonus will be extended for an additional 3 months. Eligible Cards are U.S. Consumer and Business Cards issued by American Express National Bank to a Basic Card Member.

Edit:  I'm apparently a little late...did a search but didn't see the thread...Smiley Embarassed

That's awesome!  Saw someone mention this, but no specifics on who so far was actually doing it.
