AMEX initial credit limit

Hi,

I am interested in applying for an AMEX card as it is one of the few main cards i do not have. My question is what are some typical initial credit limits??

My info:

FICO 779

Experian 752

UTIL: less than 10%

AVG Age: 4 years

Household Income: approx. 110K

No bankrupt, collections, delinqt.

No missed payments

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything seems to look pretty good to me. Why don't you check Credit Pulls and see what other people have gotten with your scores and go from there?

Is there any Amex card in particular that you want?

Tradelines: Macy’s - $18k, Penfed Power Cash Rewards - $10k, Ethan Allen (TD Bank) - $5.7k, Kay Jewelers - $5.5k, Appliances Connection - $5.3k, Jared - $5.25k, Best Buy (Citi) - $5k, Dell Preferred Account - $3.5k, Samsung - $3.2k, Firestone CFNA - $3.2k, Capital One Platinum - $3k, Mercury MC - $2.25k, Williams Sonoma - $2.1k, Wayfair (Fortiva) - $2k, Amazon Store Card - $1.8k, Apple Card - $1.7k, NFCU cashRewards - $1.5k, CareCredit - $1.5k, B&H Photo - $1.5k, Adorama - $1.25k, Ebay MC - $1k, Sam’s Club MC - $1k, American Eagle - $1k, Ollo MC - $600, Mission Lane Visa - $500, NY & Company - $500, Walgreens - $500, Home Depot - $500, Target RED Card - $500, CapOne Secured MC 0 AF - $500, Penfed Overdraft LOC - $500

Current FICOS: Mid 640s-50s on all reports, Ch 7 BK D/C Aug 2019

Thats a good profile.  You should be in with any choice you go with.  Unless, there is something that spooks them about your credit profile.

Re: AMEX initial credit limit

I was considering the Blue Preffered Card. I have just heard AMEX sometimes goes with a lower initial credit line. Then does a CLI after 60 days. Id like to take advantage of the balance transfer offer but dont wanna push my UTIL abover 30% if possible. Currently Id be transferring about $4,500.

Thanks for the advice. Im new to this site (just signed up) so im still getting used to navigating this forum and what it has to offer.

You look good to me.  I'd feel comfortable loaning you some money.  I'd guess at least 5k.

Welcome..  You will like it. I have the card and got it recently. You should be good to go.  I bet you will be given a good limit.  Keep us posted.

You look good for a 10K+ limit IMO.

Re: AMEX initial credit limit

I have never heard anyone on here BT to an AMEX before. I was under the impression everyone is terrified of carrying a balance on AMEX. This should be interesting to see how it turns out. Your profile supports a pretty nice initial starting CL. I would assume it would be between 5-10K. Let us know once you apply and good luck! It seems to me that Income is more directly tied to CL and scores are more closely tied to APRs. This is purely empirical data, by the way.

Re: AMEX initial credit limit

Yea, i have never personally known anyone to BT to AMEX either. Ive been itching to get one for a while, and seen they had a 15 month 0% BT offer. I have been working to get my credit score to a place where I could hopefully get a solid initial CL. I will keep posted on how it turns out.
