I think CA tactics are stupid. I truly believe deep in my heart that if they would delete upon payment they would collect more money that they ever dreamed of. Most of the people I know ended up having collections because of lack of education as to what would happen if they didn't pay, followed by divorce, and medical reasons.

Med. reasons that my ins. wouldn't pay for are for the final two derogs that I have left. I was foolish enough to think that I "would not pay for the priniciple of what they were not paid for'

back to the point- aside from ridiculous fees that are added to some collections most people I talk to do wish to pay...

The ridiculous fees, and the re-starting of the clock on your credit reports!!! That's what really burns me.

I'm so lucky, I don't have any collections. There's a small one, probably medical, on 2 of 3 of DH's reports. I'd pay it in a flash if I knew that it would go away, not come back, and not start reporting as current and late. And I'm VERY skeptical that it is ours!

But the absurd system we have that keeps newly-paid collections current, plus as you said, the ridiculous fees, ensures that many, many creditors will not recover the money that is owed to them, even by those who would really like to pay. Who dreamed this cr*p up, and who is keeping it going?!?!? Smiley Mad

But this wasn't in none of my credit reports and I ran them last year and twice this year.  Does that mean that it will now appear?
