Does anyone know what's the LOWEST score you can have to be approved for an AMEX card? and does anyone recommends which AMEX card provides a credit score boost and other benefits to it's customers?
Thanks a lot!
I think I remember reading a story somewhere about a guy who got a Gold card approval with a FICO in the 620s.
AMEX, like many CCs these days, has their own internal scoring method. They do not deny or approve **Exclusively** based on your FICO score. There is no minimum to be approved. I have seen people denied with +700 FICOs scores, and people get approved with scores in the 600s.
If you have recent derogs, or maxed out CCs, or other negatives then I would wait before applying.
AMEX CCs do not provide anything better than other CCs, with the exception that they backdate new CC accounts to your original account open date, which may help your AAoA.

I truly like that perception. I think alot of people, (even me) get caught up over AMEX when other good companies are just as good, with no AF as well....
I see... I no longer have CCs cause they've all been closed by the creditors. I have paid the $ I still owed and would like to start applying again to improve my score since I have zero revolving accounts. My CR is 6 years old with an average of 4 years.
While OP have their opinion on which banks are better than others....if you want an Amex card, than make sure you take control of your CREDIT and clean it up. They are a prime lender and once you get in, it will do wonders for your CRs and credit score.
My personal take to the orginal poster...get your score up to 680+ and hit the submit button....GL.
There is no replacement for the amex BCP as far as I know.

+1, at least if you're someone who drops a bundle at grocery stores on a regular basis.
PenFed gas card (5% on gas), AmEx BCP (6% on grocs plus the other stuff), Chase Freedom and/or Discover More for the 5% rotating categories pretty well cover the map for me, along with maybe a restaurant card like AmEx Costco True Earnings (3% on restaurants plus the other stuff.)

I agree. AmEx BCP and Chase Freedom are my winning couple!
