AMEX question

After always being denied by Amex I went ahead and got and n a whim applies for an everyday card was behold was finally accepted. Since then being so excited I also applied for a JetBlue and was approved. (Everyday is 3k and JetBlue 1k) here's my pickle now that I actually am doing research I really should have got the blue cash everyday as it is more my speed. My question is should I leave it alone or apply for a bce and then cancel the other 2?

Re: AMEX question

Is that your final answer Smiley Tongue

Seriously, you might be best off just using the ED and the JetBlue, let AMEX see your payment history, see how the points back on the ED work for you, and then in a few months you can probably just get the BCE as well.

You already took 2 HP since you applied for 2 revolvers, just keep them and use them and apply for the one you want in a few months down the road.

What does your credit file look like i.e. AAoA, any baddies? scores? getting a 1k card usually means the scores aren't as high as they would like to see them.

Re: AMEX question

My credit wasn't the greatest when I applied for these cards but I've been using the everyday card literally everyday for all my purchases and at the end of the month paying it off in full or around 75%. I teeter between 1500-2000 a month on that card. My JetBlue I didn't even use until last month when I made a 700$ purchase that was paid off next billing cycle. Right now I'm around the 685 in equifax and was recently approved for a chase sapphire preferred for 5k which then I combined with my chase slate(5k) and cancelled the slate bc it had no benefit to me. For years I was only given cards with no benefits to me and now that I can use cards to my advantage I want to.

Re: AMEX question

Ok, the plot thickens. So it's not like you just got the ED in the mail last week, is it?

Yeah, you just keep it. And now start searching for the Backdating information on AMEX, elsewhere here BEFORE you make your next app. If you do go for the BCE, you'll want to wait until after the first of the year.

And, as a favor to others, could you take some time to edit your siggy so your current list of cards is available to view? It puts comments in context, and then we don't have to wait for the slow reveal like in this thread Smiley Tongue

Re: AMEX question

Ok, understood. You'll find a lot of info here, and helpful comments. A PC web browser does work better than a phone.

At least you aren't driving while trying to add notes to MyFICO, so that's a plus.

Re: AMEX question

If for know other reason you would want to wait to apply for a third card until January. Your current cards member since date if you got them in December is 12/2014. If you apply for the third card in January

the MSD would be 01/2014 gaining almost a year on the other two of AAAs. If it was me I would wait longer to show good credit card management.
