AMEX question.

Hey folks. I really wanted to get everyone’s feedback.

I currently have an AMEX Gold card. I’ve reached 3 months with it and have used it pretty heavily. I currently have no balance on it.

My scores are Equifax 770, TransUnion 789, Experian 795. Fico 8

I have lots of mixed credit and my credit history is about 2 years and 2 months.
I have a Mortgage, 2 car loans, 5 credit cards and 1 charge card and 2 unsecured loans.

No missed payments ever.

0% utilization currently.

I applied for a AMEX platinum a month ago and was declined. Reasons were for credit history. At the time my scores were about 40 point less for Experian and I had about 26% utilization.

What are my chances now on getting approved for the platinum card now?

Log in to your online Amex account, navigate to the Platinum card, and check to see if you have an offer to upgrade the Gold card to the Platinum.  Even if you don't have an upgrade offer, click on the Platinum card's "Apply Now" button and see what the message says.

Do you travel often?

I travel 12-18 times a year. I want to add the card to my wallet not upgrade my gold card.

So did you go to the Platinum card and click on the "Apply Now" button as suggested?

i'm pretty sure his problem is that his card is still very new, only 3mo old. i think its 6mo if you want to get a second card with them? and a year before you can do a product upgrade?

You can apply for all 3 charge cards at the same time if you're profile supports it. The only apping restrictions are in regards to the revolvers.

I just have my own charge card. The gold AMEX.

Try clicking on Apply Now. If it says “acblue94, you are preapproved!” then it’s usually very solid that you’ll get it. If it says “expanding your membership is easy” then there are no guarantees either way.

My letter of decline states back on August 8, 2019.

“We obtained your Fico score from Experian.....On July 27, 2019, your Fico score was 754”

I applied on August 8 and was declined. Safe to say AMEX does a soft pull for me every 27th of the month. Basically a few days after my statement closes.
