OK, I have seen enough threads of Amex blacklisted to grab my interest. It's like watching a child that has multiple open doors before him, but one is closed and that's the one he wants to go in... I understand, believe me. Anyway, I was wondering:
As you know, for a long time, Amex wasn't offering the pre-qualification option, but now it does. When those of you Blacklisted, or those who suspect are Blacklisted or those who fear are Blacklisted fill the form at that Pre-Qual page what do you get? Exact wording would be useful, for comparison...
As I understand it, if you are Blacklisted and actually apply, they don't even HP you because the system rejects you way before that. I would like to know if that applies to the Pre-Q level and what EXACTLY do they say or do they treat you like a "regular" applicant at that point.
If you would indulge me reporting your results, in this experiment for knowledge I would appreciate it. In the comparison of results we might learn something interesting...
I tried it out of curiosity and got the following:
Hello, 7ate9.
We're sorry we couldn't find a special offer for you. But based on your interests, we think you might like the following Cards:
They suggested the platinum charge, gold charge, and blue cash card. I am 99.9% sure I am blacklisted by them. I included a Blue card in my Ch7 back in May of 2010, the balance was over 15k at the time. I'm sure if I were to apply that I would be denied for the same reason others have stated in other forums.

Interesting, and thank you for sharing. It looks that they are treating you like a regular guy. Let's see if this is consistent with others or if not, that could be significant....
Thank you, for revealing the DATE OF YOUR LAST AMEX ACCOUNT ACTIVITY that could be significant for comparison purposes. Let's wait for other results...
I get the same exact message and card recommendations as 7ate9. Scores in sig. Never burned AMEX nor have I ever had an account with them.
Hope this helps.
I'm not sure how well their prequalifying page works.. I filled it out and got the same message, I applied for the skymiles gold anyways and got approved.
I filled out the Pre-Qual info and got the message
"We're sorry we couldn't find a special offer for you. But based on your interests, we think you might like the following Cards:"
I have a CH7 BK from Oct 2010. I never included Amex in my filing.
I don't know about pre-qual, but if you apply and are indeed blacklisted it will not pull credit and the denial letter (usually available to view online within minutes) will say because of past relationship or something along those lines. My blacklist went away about 7 years after my ch 7 I believe it was, but was then denied for having a bk (ch 13).
I will be trying again shortly when that bk is gone
This is very interesting, and I want to thank everyone for participating in this. I burned AMEX too, I did end up paying my account in full. I received a prequal offer in the mail. When I go online, I show my offer along with two other cards, the gold card and the Amex Blue, I had the AMEX green card, and I don't qualify for that one.

APPLY!
Everytime I've checked on the pre-qual I never get anything, however I did do the opt-out thing years ago.
