Congrats on the awesome starting limit!
That changes the rule of thumb, which is mainly for those starting at $1k or $2k on AMEX revolvers. You are already two steps beyond that point, so now you should weigh how much limit you may need, and what your income is to support the limit.
The max you could request is 3x, but AMEX doesn't have to grant you a $45k limit. You can ask for a $5k or $10k increase, and have a much better chance of approval, then ask again in 6 months. At some point you reach POI requirements but along with the slow pace of smaller SP CLI, you continue to build your internal score with AMEX, likely increasing what that trigger point is for POI.
So if I received a CLI on my business card awhile back, I can't receive a CLI on my personal cards until 6 months after that? Just wondering if business and personal cards cards are all considered the same for CLI's. Thanks.

I was reading this and noticed he got his first CLI on day 66.

So is it 90 days or 60 days? Thank you!

It used to be 61 days, but more and more DPs are showing up indicating it may not even be until 6 months. DPs are all over the place, though, so YMMV.
@tussking I just got my very first 3x CLI today and I am at 94 days on a brand new account and it was my first try. So, it seems like some people are given the increase at 61, some at 91, and some have to wait until the full 6 months. In other words YMMV. Good luck with your request; may the odds be in your favor!

Hey, Alicia!
I took a small chance - based on your good fortune - and went for a very modest $1,000 CLI with my AMEX BCE. This is some four months (going from memory here, so I might be a few days or a week off....) after my very first CLI with said card. So, my first two CLI requests via the AMEX web site were successful.
So, my first CLI request (which was a 2x SL request....I try to stay humble) was at roughly four months and my second CLI request (which was a modest $1,000, as mentioned) have both been honored. But, not 91 days (or, as in your case, 94 days...) but a little bit more.
I also put some pretty good spend on the BCE (some 25 - 30 transactions each billing cycle) so maybe that helps a bit.
Just one more data point for the masses to consume!
Good luck everyone!
@HowDoesThisAllWork Congratulations on your CLI. Glad to hear it worked out!
BTW (in my whisper voice) ... who's Alicia??? 😆

It is possible.....just possible.....that when I am up at 3AM in these forums that I see one person sign her posts with her name (if you were guessing "Alicia" then you would be correct) and that I - maybe slightly ever so maybe - mistakened (because that is what you do at 3AM - you "mistakened") that person for you. I mean, maybe that is what is going on here.

My understanding of how AMEX SP CLI works, it is based on SP data, which AMEX updates regularly. The initial 61 day recommendation was due to likely cycle time to allow AMEX to update the SP.
However, this also presumes there is an upward trend in the cardholder SP data, and good spend metrics with the card. YMMV applies, because not all profiles improve in the first 60 days. Mini-sprees and the resulting new card display come to mind as a potential derail.
