For our newer (and some older) members, here's how to quote a specific post, so that everyone knows to whom you're replying. When a thread gets rocking and rolling, it can get really confusing:
It is also possible to edit out some of the quoted text, if it's already full of multiple quotes or it was a War-and-Peace type post. Just don't mess with the top and bottom lines.
hope that helps
edit to add: also, around here, we don't do "fyp" (fixed your post), where you quote someone and change part of what they wrote, as a joke or sarcasm or whatever. While that happens at many other forums, around here it's a no-no. ![]()

The new card would be over 1 year old by the time it first shows on your CR.
This post is old but for the sake of learning, can someone please explain to me how a card that is open at the start of a new year is reported as a one year old card.

- Click the reply button below on the right on the specific post that you are addressing.
- When the text box opens up, click the blue Quote button above on the right, next to the Spell Check button.
- The other person's post will pop up, surrounded by lines. Make sure to place your cursor below the lower line, low enough to be back by the left margin, or your reply will also be indented.
- Type away.

Finally!
Thought I'd never figure that out. Thanks again

@Jake0215 wrote:Can someone please explain to me how the offers work with amex. Currently when I log in under "Current Offers" it lists Amex Gold, Delta, and BCP. Is this kinda like their prequal page for members? Are you more likely to get approved? or is it a YMMV may vary situation?
Yes, it seems to be like the prequal page for members, but who knows what it means. I think it has way more to do with marketing and cookie tracking than it does with any kind of indication that you are likely to get approved for something. I don't check it all that often, but I rarely have any preapprovals, and when I do have one, if I log out and log right back in, it is gone. That seems to be a common experience.
All that said, if you were approved for a card from them, have built some history, and your credit profile has improved (or at least not gotten worse) since you were last approved, I'd think you'd stand a pretty good chance at getting approved for another card.

Thanks!
Anybody?? Enquiring minds, and all.
One poster mentioned that it was right above his "account details", but I don't have a screen with that exact title. Are we talking about the Account Home tab?
I have a 4-year-long history of not being able to reliably find anything at all on the American Express site. Or at least, not twice in a row. ![]()
same here. I have the green and do not see the pre-approval page anymore
Once you're a card member, you see upgarde options.
With Amex, unless you're offered a targetted upgrade--50k bonus + spend X in 3 months--it is ALWAYS more beneficial to apply for a new card and qualify for the promo, then add the card to your online profile.
Different links will lead to different deals. For instance, links from the SPG account will give you the full bonus, while apping as an existing card member through Amex's site will exclude you from the tail end 15k bonus. Or, Delta will only offer you 30k signup if from Amex's site, but 40k or 45k from your delta account link.
Some will say they just call Amex and request the promo. I say, take the path to least resistance and app as a new member to maximize the signup perks.
I was just wondering if they have a preapproval page for existing cardmembers. I am interested in getting an amex revolver down the road but it would be nice to see a preapproval before apping
