AMEX

What are the credit scores to likely get approved for this card?

Do they accept a bankruptcy at all?

From what I get, not BK friendly at all and people have been approved for the Delta with low 600's, myself included.

Amex has many different cards, and they all have slightly (or greatly) different underwriting standards.  Which particular card are you interested in?

In general, they will refuse for BK almost always.

Re: AMEX

I was really interested in any AMEX card just to add to my portfolio however I have had a BK back in 2003 so I guess I will be waiting for about 5 more years to even qualify unless some guidelines change in the near future

The Delta card seems to be the entry level card.  I wonder if anyone on here has gotten that card with a BK.  In the mortgage world 4 years is enough time.......

Unfortunately, in the Amex world it's 7 years.  This is a general rule, and YMMV, but it seems pretty reliable.

If you have an EX INQ to burn, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try, as long as you know that the most likely outcome will be one more INQ and nothing to show for it.

Re: AMEX

Does AMEX only pull EX?

Darn, if this is true...it is my lowest and most stubborn!  They hate me!!! I feel love from TU and EQ...their scores are always within a few points of each other...but darn old EX stays a steady 50 pts. behind!!!  No matter what I do, EX refuses to budge when it comes to correcting wrong info...everything comes back "verified."

TU and EQ seem to actually investigate!!

There's nothing magic about having all four bank cards in your wallet (although fun, maybe!), but if you would really like to have something that says AmEx, you can look into the co-branded versions, for instance the one from BofA. I have one from USAA, and it does everything the regular one does. I happen to think that the USAA rewards program is a heckuva lot more practical and understandable if you don't fly all over the planet every week, and it has the consumer protection deal that regular AmEx's have, it doesn't have F/R's...

AmEx (the real AmEx) is getting shoved back on my wish list. It's a bit high-maintenance these days. In another year or so, as my reports get cleaner and cleaner, and as they calm down from this weird thing they're going through, I might consider them then.
