AMEX

Still curious about my dream card Amex.  For future reference, what will be the minimum score when apping?  Second is inquiries are a factor? Last question, is what Credit Bureau are they pulling?  All responses are greatly appreciated.

It's more than just score, your overall profile is important also - what baddies and if so how recent? Are you applying for a charge or revolver? Some here say that an Amex charge is easier to get than a revolver. Amex pulls EX and may be inquiry sensitive for borderline profiles. You can check the credit pulls database to see the range.

I got my Amex with 661 score on EX, two collections that were close to falling off, 0 INQs, It was the Amex JetBlue card. I was borderline and approved after they triple pulled me.

Starting Score: EX:570, 8/2011
Current
Scores(8/30/18):
EX08:850; EQ08:850,
TU08:847
Inqs(12 mo): EX/0, EQ/0, TU/0
Goal Scores: 800+
My Cards: BoA Rewards: 30K, Discover IT: 50K, Arrival : 13.3K, CDP: 30.1K, Amex PRG, Amex ED: 22.5K, Amex BCP: 20K, FU: 21K, CSR: 35K, Amazon Store: 20K, Macys:10K, Diners Club:40K

Re: AMEX

Wow, good info. So my fear is inquiries I have 7 yikes! Only one that will fall off this year, and my last app was in Dec. Chase, Walmart, Cap.1 all where approved, and a credit union pulled a hp on me. I didn't app for a card just open up a Checking acct/savings.

AmEx is a creditor.  They offer a number of different cards.

We really don't know.  Your best bet is to look at the Credit Pulls Database.

Keep in mind that with anything credit related it's not just a matter of score and if you're going to rely on score you need to ensure that you're referring to scores using the same scoring model as the creditor.  You cannot rely on a score generated by one scoring model to determine a score generated by any entirely different scoring model.

Yes. All of these are factors as well as income.  Inquiries fall under New Credit.

Re: AMEX

My plan is to wait 6 months then app. My scores should be in the 700's by then. 2 Baddies are getting deleted this month, other one is 2 late payments from Capital One Dec &Jan. I'm still working on doing a second GW to them (never give up). The rest is low balances., but when I make my move I'll do the utilization scale 1-5%. 67,000 my income.Oldest account 8years, the rest are 1st are(2) and the other ones I obtained Nov-Dec14.

Re: AMEX

With that EX score you would probably be approved now for the ED/Delta or Charge Card... Obviosuly YMMV.. As others stated not score alone but income, DTI ratio and other things, but your scores are deffinetly within the cards mentioned for approval.

Re: AMEX

Thank you for all input! I'm gathering all knowledge so when I do app. Hopefully I'll be successful. Last question my income 67,000 is that ok? I was told I shouldn't combine my husband income with mine if we didn't file taxes together.

That is correct, don't combine your income with Amex..  Not sure about since you file your income together if you can use them together, but regardless your income is way over sufficient..  College student on this site that make 15k-20k have 10k credit lines with AMEX.  Just keep in mind what other debts your have meaning DTI (debt) to income ratio.. Obvioiusly if you make 67000 dollars a year but your monthly bills are 4k, then you might have some issues getting approved.   Just an example.  As long as you have a good DTI ratio, your scores are fine to get you approved as stated for the Delta/ED or any Charge Card (PRG,GREEN) in my opinion.  I honestly think you would get approved now, but do it when you feel comfortable.
