AMEX

just a quick question.. I used to have the Amex green. However, I closed it after it wen to collections, and paid off. This was in 2013. I checked yesterday to see if I had any prequal offers online, and nothing showed up. Maybe my scores are too low..

Does anyone know if it's a score thing or am I black listed???

once my scores improve after the new cli, should I give it a shot to apply??

Re: AMEX

If you paid them more than likely you are not blacklisted. Your scores and may be other things on your report may be a factor in you not getting any offers. Wait till your scores reach about 690 and then apply.

Will do. Thanks Darwin. My current scores are based off of 49% uti. Once cap 1 shows my payment and new ls, my overall uti will be 10%, so I'm curious how many points my score will jump up.

Re: AMEX

I can't answer if you are blacklisted or not, but I will say I didn't have any prequalifiers on the site and I was approved for the Everyday and BCE a few days apart. I've read some post's on here with people around 750-800 scores with no prequalifiers.

Re: AMEX

Not true that you need 750-780 to see Pre-Q. My EX was 624 and was approved for BCE when my EX went up to 650 I checked PRE-Q and I have 3 offers. I applied to all 3 and were approved on 2 (1 was revolver and 1 was charge) the other revolver instantly denied because I just got 2 revolvers within 90 days.

My BCP was approved for $5000 SL and I received the Platinum Charge card with 100K offer.

So I dont think it's 750+++ scores triggers any of those Pre-Q. Keep checking, more so when you get to 650 I think that's their cut off.

Not necessarily blacklisted, but your scores are definitely on the low side.  Do you only have the Cap1 and the Walmart cards?  Your credit file might be too thin for them at the moment, too.  I'd work on getting your Experian score up to at least 670 and letting those cards you have age a bit.  But don't let the pre-qualified thing discourage you.  I was able to get a Blue Cash Everyday from them last year without a pre-qual.  As someone else said here, plenty of people with scores well over 700 can't get prequalled but are able to get their cards.

Re: AMEX

Isn't Amex one of the ones that will reject blacklisted users without an HP?   Wait till your EX score gets higher, then try (if you really want an Amex that is).

No one said you did.  The person you are referencing above said that there have been cases of people with 750-800 scores NOT getting pre-quals [but still getting approvals, certainly]
