Re: AMEX

Way to Go MV!!!

FYI - as we all know AMEX is way picky...my FICO scores are all in the 700s, and I have a Discover, VISA and MCard, but AMEX turned me down because I had a 90 day late in 2003 with Chase and a 120 day late in 2003 with Chase.  I will have to wait until 2010 to apply again (that is when these lates will drop off).

Whew, I guess I'm waiting a bit longer after all Smiley Sad

Re: AMEX

From my experience, if you don't have any lates that are more than 30 days on your report within the last 10 years you should be okay.

Some posters have been approved for AMEX with scores lower than mine.  But, with AMEX it isn't just about the score. They have a more wholistic way of viewing your CR.  They look at lates very negatively and a late that is more than 90 days they look at the same as a bankruptcy.  In my case I had one late for 120 days in 2003.  But, I have never filed bankruptcy and I have no late payments on my report since 2003.

Take a look at your CR from Experian. AMEX almost always pulls an experian report and experian is very much a stickler about lates....

Re: AMEX

I got approved with 2 60 day lates that were about 22 months old.  My score was 717 at the time.  Some people thought that I should wait until they were at least 2 years old but I gave it a whirl and got a 13,800 limit.

I will be looking at EX later today  Smiley Happy  I knew they pulled EX, and I will know if it is a hard.  My Score there is lower than my other two by about 90 points, and it has a 6.75 year old collection on it (long story).  But the reply was instant on line

Re: AMEX

Maybe 30 and 60 day lates are okay....I really think that the 120 day late from Chase is the reason I was denied from AMEX...

Yes, I have one of those gems too, and it's younger than yours. (It goes over two years next March.) Which particular card did you apply for?

I was hoping not to have to do the product change dance, but I guess if they'd take the bad late on one of the easier cards, I could try to back-door in that way.
