AMX question

I have seen some people stating that they had once had an AMX card, closed it out and recently reapplied and it would report back to the original date.

My question is, I personally never had an AMX, but I was an authorized user for a long time, is it possible if I apply myself that it will report back to the original date that I became an authorized user? Or no?

I really don't need the card, but if it's something that will increase my credit history dramatically I will go for it. If it doesn't, no sense for me to jump into it.

Thanks in advance!

Yes!

Not guaranteed however (and often has to be requested with some sort of proof) but better to try now than to wait, being AMEX is reviewing back dating policy and has been for some time, so it's in "transition".

Re: AMX question

Policy wise, you get backdated to when you first held Amex for any reasons (maybe not corporate). However, sometimes it doesn't automatically pick up your old member date. You then need to fight for it so helpful to have proof. Another way is to call them and see if they have record of your old au account. If they do, you will likely be auto backdated.

Re: AMX question

Thank you both for the reply!

I just checked my last CR to double check, and it still shows that I am an authorized user, but I could have sworn that I wasn't anymore. Does this change anything?

Re: AMX question

That should help in terms of proof. Copy of the card is even better.

Re: AMX question

Ok cool, if they don't accept it that way, I can get a copy of the card.

I hope this works, it would add 14 years of history Smiley Happy

Re: AMX question

Call them and see if they have record of it. Easiest way of finding out.

I checked and tey will not back date to a corporate card. My wife carries a corporate card with a 2008 date. Last year, when we opened an Amex for her, she called and was told they would not backdate.

Re: AMX question

RockinRay,

Yeah I thought so.  Although I do know a couple of people that got backdated automatically from their corporate card.  Also, there are all sorts of "corporate" cards and maybe different rules for the different types of cards.  Who knows.  I guess buyer beware when it comes to corporate cards.
