AMeX AA question.

So on my AMeX, I’m guessing due to a question of transaction that I reported as fraud, my account was adjusted, and my limit went from 3k to 1k.. so how long should I wait before I request an increase?

I think it's highly unlikely that they reduced your limit due to you reporting a transaction as fraud.  Something else is going on that led them to AA you.  Any significant changes in your reports recently?  I'd definitely try to find out more (may have to wait for the letter) about why they reduced your limit before even worrying about when you can request a CLI.  If they reduced your limit now, it's going to b awhile before they raise it again.

Re: AMeX AA question.

Nope they decreased it during the hurricane when I had massive swipes on my other accounts. But I was surprised they reduced my limit. Was probably around Dec or Jan. I requested for an increase last week and the letter stated can’t request due to recent decrease.

I’m guessing 6 months is the time frame?

Re: AMeX AA question.

Agree with Irish, AA usually happens for a reason and if its Amex doing it, I wouldn't concern myself with cli and focus on what caused it.Sorry to hear Random

Re: AMeX AA question.

I only thought it was due to the fraud situation because it almost immediately happened after my case was handled. And a good 2 months after my house repair swipes.. very confused.

Your signature says you're at 37% overall utilization. That is high. If it has been high for several months, that might be enough to make Amex consider you a riskier customer.

Amex doesn't only look at the health of your Amex card (low balance, timely payments, etc.). It also looks at your other accounts and may not consider them healthy.

Re: AMeX AA question.

The fraud was probably not the cause of the decrease, but it was likely the event that caused Amex to put eyes on your account, and that’s when they say the high utilization on other accounts.

This is why it better to paid it in full with Amex and keep it zero outstanding balance. I been hearing bad news with Amex caused me not to use Amex as a daily driver.
