At this point I'm going to give them a month or two and then I'm gonna shut them down. My experience with their credit lending has not been good. If you're going to deny me, fine. But you ask to see all my income and papers and then you deny me? That's a no from me. One thing I dislike (very much) is when I feel my time is wasted. Time = money.
I never EVER had any trouble with any other credit union or bank trying to get credit cards at all. Seriously. Some have denied me but they didn't waste my time asking me for all my documents only to deny me.
BECU may have asked for all my documents and I certified mailed them - but they didn't make me go through all that trouble just to deny me.
I get the annoyance but the argument (as I suspect you know!) doesn't make all that much sense! While some places basically are doing a confirmation check, so once you supply the requested material you get approved, others may really be looking for information to make a decision. Thus, even once you have done the work, no guarantee! As @FinStar says, probably time to move on...
Applying for AOD with SSL loan and recent credit card approval?
Last August I paid off my car loan and my credit score dropped. Searching for answers I found out about SSL (secured share loans) here at Myfico.com forum. I took out a $5k SSL from NFCU and paid back $4.5k in about 48hrs after I took out the loan. It did boost my credit score back up. The next payment is not due until several years into the future. The original payments were like $88/month. However, I pay just under $8/month because that amount would pay off the loan by the original due date by my estimation.
I have read that AOD takes DTI very serious. Should I pay off the SSL before applying?
Also, the week before I decided to apply for AOD, I got approve for another credit card somewhere else.
Now I am: (#credit cards/ months) 1/1, 0/6, 0/9, 3/12, 5/21. Two of the credit cards of 5/21 will be two years old by late Spring early Summer. Will that be a hindrance?
Ok folks I've been thinking lately of apping for the AOD 3% card. I just don't know that my EQ5 is gonna get it done for me, it's sitting at 680 right now due to 2 very small paid med collections. They're both about 3 years old.
Other than that I think i would have a decent chance. As of May 1st I will be 0/6 and 2/12, 1 of those is an auto loan. I have 7 inquiries on EQ with 4 of those due to fall off Sept 1 from auto shopping in Aug 2019.
Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks as always!

I was approved for it early on with about the same score but my profile was clean other than a 9 year old BK and lots of credit seeking.

I did read that about your approval.
Seems I've read over the past months different members kind of saying a score of at least in the low 700's is where you want to be now. Like AOD has tightened up some idk.
Right now I have 4 accounts with balances and May 1st it'll be 2. But I don't think that'll do much to the tough ole EQ5. Lol
I appreciate your response!

They have definitely tightened up since early on but I would take the shot anyway. It's a pretty great card.

I'm gonna give it shot at the beginning of May when I have a few things update. Thanks again!

@Mr_Mojo_Risin, Good Luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Thank you, I'm gonna need it!
For the most part since returning to CC's after 25 year hiatus, I've mostly dealt with Navy for the past 16 months. They've been extremely generous to me.
Ole AOD is gonna be a tough one for me having a 680 EQ5. Idk, we'll the 1st week of May though.

@Mr_Mojo_Risin I would suggest you complete your membership application online. Then call in after to complete your credit card application on the phone. This allows any questions to be explained at the onset and set yourself in a better place for an approval. This was my method and it worked out perfectly. They seem to like personal interactions and I come from a time where that was how business was done. I think with AOD, especially for out of state customers, it works in your favor. Good luck!
