I recently had made another thread asking how to go about getting an APR reduced, and debated doing it.
I had 2 CCs I was looking to do it for...Sallie Mae & Capital One. I ended up paying the CapOne off in full just this past week, so am no longer worried about that one for the moment.
Decided to give Sallie Mae a call, and see what would happen. What's the worst they could tell me, no? Then fine, I'd still have the same APR. lol
I had read on here it might be difficult, while others said it wouldn't be so hard. So, why not? Took a chance!
I called them up, and in 5 minutes had gotten them to give me a 0% APR for 6 months, and then it would be dropped to 16.99% APR from 20.99% where it is now. I mentioned at one point how I just recently graduated, moved out, got a job etc. Said something to the effects of "Discover gave me a promo APR of 0% for 6 months due to my graduation (which is 100% true)", so they matched that for me! On top of that I got a CLI of $1700, to bring my CL up to $5000.
I also decided to try for a CLI with Discover, as I have been using that credit card regularly (0% APR, and they are doing that double cash back thing). I got a $500 CLI from them to bring me to $2000. Was hoping for a bit more on that one, but still not complaining!
Overall, a pretty good day within the CC world for me.
Nice.. Enjoy it.
Congrats!
WTG!! Congrats!
Congratulations, The Silent Pen. You are doing fantastic. I haven't tried to get an APR reduction yet, but stories like yours are sure giving me the cojones to try it.
Congrats!!
Congratulations! Good work.
