Quick question. My mother accepted a BT offer from Wamu 2 months ago, during the app process she put me down as an additional card holder, my SSN# was not given. I received a card from Wamu with my name on it, but I felt for sure since my SSN# was not given it would have no impact on my credit. Well.. i check my CR today and I'm on an as AU and the WAMU debt is included in my debt to credit ratio. I'm thinking i need to have her call and take me off. Is it hurting me??
Okay, if the card is maxed or has a high balance, yes, it is hurting your credit score but not for long. FICO08 is going to be doing away with the AU impact on the score. I would adise anyone thinking of becoming an AU on an account to ask the person adding you to add you to a card on which they keep a low balance. Is the history on the card a long one? If not that could also effect you. If it is an old account the uti may not be hurting you as much as the age is helping you.

No she just opened it 2 months ago. I understand it was a kind jesture of hers, but I have her on the phone with them now. The balance is high because of the BT but I see that its really hurting me.
