AU on a Penn FEd Credit Card

My son has a score of 700+,   but has very high utilization (he spends about $7,000 a month on work related expenses) and has a high number of inquiries (got moved to Seattle last year so new apartment, new car, new utilites, etc.).  Anyway, I have added him to my Chase Freedom as an AU and tried to add him to my Amex Costco True Earnings card but, because he is not on my Costco account, I couldn't add him.  The additional credit lines obviously would help him in terms of utilization.

Does anyone have any experience adding authorized users to a PenFed account.  I looked at the forms and it can be done.  I'm just not sure how sensitive they are to inquiry activity and utilization for the AU?   Any feedback would be appreciated....

Thanks!

Yes, I've done it.  You'd have to fax or mail them the form.

Thanks for speedy response, DI.  Do you know if they pull the AU's credit and would they deny the request if there was concern about inquiry activity?

Re: AU on a Penn FEd Credit Card

I'm a AU on my wife's PenFed Visa. I just had to sign a form. However, PenFed doesn't report AU accounts (at least in my case) to the 3 CB's. No hard inquiry.

I believe your concerns are invalid.

No, they do not pull the AU's credit report.  It's not an application for credit that the AU is seeking.
