Re: AU question

Come to think of it, there was a small issue with my apartment # listed on my Equifax report back in the day, so maybe that was the issue!  That would make sense.  In any event, getting the SSN to Discover customer service worked out great and I'm sure it would work for the OP as well.

Re: AU question

Discover is going to send another card for the AU. I don't plan on giving the card to the AU. Should I activate it and shred the card or should I not even activate it?

Re: AU question

I'd activate it and sock-drawer it or maybe even make one small purchase on it yourself after activation then sock-drawer it.  Not sure if it is even necessary to do that though.

Discover reports AUs; the issue is whether or not the CBs can match the information based solely on name. You will run into difficulty when the last name and/od addresses do not match.

If there's any variation that can results in a mismatch for the AU, then it may not report.

I gave Discover my AU's SSN, so I think it's good now. But, Discover is going to send another card for the AU. I don't plan on giving the card to the AU. Should I activate it and shred the card or should I not even activate it?

It wouldn't hurt activating it, just don't provide the card to your AU - either shred it or keep in a safe location.

Re: AU question

Let's say that my AU eventually gets her own CC. I will then remove her as my AU. The AU tradeline should completely disappear as if it never existed, right? And are there any benefits of keeping that AU if they don't have baddies or any of that bad stuff?

Re: AU question

I was added to my wife's DISCOVER MORE card as AU and they did not ask my SSN either. I had the same question too, how would they match my name with report. However they were the first one to report AU on my Credit Bureau reports and even backdated the account to it's original opening date, which AMEX doesn't.
