Hi everyone, long time lurker and decided to finally chime in. My question regards my Academy Sports card with a whopping $450 limit. I started out with a $300 cl almost 2 years ago . After 1 year, got a $150 CLI. When I log into my account, there is nowhere on the Bread page to ask for another cli. Can I assume this card is " bucketed" ? My current balance is $0  and my EQ Fico is 703. Granted, I do not use the acct often, and my highest balance has been $280. My highest limit is a now Ollo (was Ally) with a $5700 limit that I have had almost 5 years. Thanks for insight , and I see lots of knowledge here.

I don't think all cards have a button.  I would chat and/or call.  GL.

Yeah, you'll likely have to call in and request a CLI.   It should be SP though, and Comenity has been reported to give out CLIs on their store cards regularly for some people so you should give it a shot.

These niche store cards don't always have the best online account management tools. I'd try calling to ask.

Most lenders will hide the CLi button on the website until you qualify for a increase. If you do not see it then you do not qualify yet. Regardless of you qualifying or not you can call in and put in a request over the phone at any time. It will be up to the lender to decide what they want to do with it.

The fact that you do not really use this account does not help your case for extra credit line. I personally would deny your request based on the lack of use. You will need to justify the increased credit limit. Lastly Bread Financial/Comenity Bank does not do bucketing, that is a Capital One idea.

Thanks for the reply, and I understand my lack of use not triggering an increase, but at the same time one pair of decent shoes can put me over the 30 % usage mark. And yes , I should pay it off monthly to avoid that, but having the option to let something ride an extra month is what I am looking for. I would rather pay a few bucks interest than to go over 30% on any one account now.

I was speaking for myself as I too have an Academy Sports card with only a $500 limit, have had the card for almost 3 years. I have been thinking about closing it and applying again

Your thinking from the viewpoint of an ideal world. The bank is thinking from the viewpoint of plain business. Considering the bank is in control then only their viewpoint matters. If you want to make a bank give you more breathing room then you need to show that you can be trusted with that. In time the bank will want to invest in your growth. Depending on how your accounts are set up other banks might be more interested in expansion.
