I repeat everyday Hello my name is myjourney and I am a app oholic.......Lol

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

With the exception of one card, i've apped for, and received almost every brand name card I could ask for and have received decent balances.  The only card I haven't applied for is a Cap1 card and that's mostly because I think their commercials are horrible. Despite this success, I find myself apping for random, off brand cards (First National Omaha, Zion Bank Visa Signature, Visa Black...Smiley Embarassed). I have 9 cards now and about 80k in CL. I don't need/want more (except this one card I'll app for in the second half of the year). I need to exercise some self control but am constantly seeking acceptance thru app approvals Smiley Happy.

I've avoided store credit cards (no interest in a target or Walmart card) but need help backing away from these other cc apps. Anyone else struggle with ceasing the app process?

Well, that's the key right there. Credit cards can be wonderful things -- they can help us shop more safely online, they allow us to make purchases without the need to carry around a lot of cash, we can rack up rewards on them. All in all, when used properly they're wonderful tools. What they are not, however, is a reflection of who one is as an individual. Self worth needs to come from inside, not from an approval message on a computer screen. This is not an easy fix, but being mindful of it is a big step. Please remind yourself that you have inherent worth and dignity no matter what you may hold in your wallet. This, of course, holds true for all of us.

Re: Addicted to apps :(

I am so addicted to app'ing for credit, that it scares me.  I am probably ruining my credit by app'ing so much.  Within 3 months, I have applied for about 25 new credit cards.  I suppose that the problem is that I had bad credit for so long, that now that it's improving, I am losing my mind.  I have been approved for the majority of the cards; however, I have been denied some of them. The worst part of it is that I don't even want some of the cards.  Here is a list of my new credit cards:

Cards I'm happy about:

Bloomingdales: $1500 CL

Target: $200 CL

Sam's Club: $600 CL

Belk: $200 CL

Dillard's: $600 CL

Macy's: $600 CL

Shop NBC: $1000 CL

QVC: $700 CL

Firestone: $1400 CL

Care Credit $1800 CL

Barclay Apple Card Visa: $500 CL

Bank of America Visa: $500 CL

Langley Federal Credit Union Visa: $1000 CL

Capital One: $500 CL

Peebles: $250 CL

Lowes: $300 CL

Victoria's Secret: $500 CL

Jared/Kay Jeweler's: $2000 CL

Kohl's: $300 CL

TJMaxx: $600 CL

Cards I don't want:

Avenue: $250 CL

WomanWithin: $250 CL

KingSize: $250 CL

Jessica London: $250 CL

Texaco/Chevron: $300 CL

Roaman's: $250 CL

BrylaneHome: $250 CL

OneStopPlus: $250 CL

See what I mean??!!??

Re: Addicted to apps :(

Along with controlling the urge to app, you might want to consider closing some of your cards. I don't know how you keep track of them all. I couldn't do even with a spreadsheet. I think 10 cards max is the most I would want to manage.

Re: Addicted to apps :(

Yeah I couldn't manage that many cards. I think 3-5 with solid limits is enough. Plus I like carrying a small wallet lol

A denial or two will generally take care of that. Smiley Wink Perhaps you should quit while you're ahead.
