I have a long established AmEx Blue Cash card with no annual fee and stellar history as it has a high CL and I PIF every month. I was thinking about adding both my fiancee and my brother as AUs to the account. I have had an AU in the past and never had any issues, but has anyone on here ever seen any repercussions in adding two AUs to an account?
I remember reading somewhere that adding several AUs might trigger a FR. YMMV ![]()
Have them both get their own card, this way you can maintain that sparkling credit history. Money and family best kept separated.

Well I change my answer if the woman in question is a sugar mama then yes she's more than worthy of being a AU on your card lol

ROFL!!! as a sugar momma myself, I concur with this assessment. My husband made me joint on all of his banking accounts, and he reminds me constantly that they are "our" accounts now.
Poor guy was never very good at keeping track of whats in the account and I was looking and he had over 2k in Overdraft fees last yr.
Since I was added, we've only had one, for $34 dollars and it was because I wasn't used to their online bill pay system, the billpay check was "floating" and I thought it had already been subtracted from his available balance. I made him an AU on my Discover, Amex, and Chase accounts, but he only carries amex with him. I use all his money to pay Amex rofl. But the plus side is that he never has to worry about having cash or being able to pay for something, cause he always has amex with him. Its a big stress relief for him.

Repercussions on your account because they have bad credit? No
Over the years though we have seen many debates on rather AU that are black listed from Amex for burning them in the past can then be added as AU. They did block it for a while but then for many years it was not checked when adding but I "Believe" they are back to not approving the AU to have a card if they burned Amex in the past. and no this does not mean that adding AU is going to be a HP for them or that if they are blacklisted and you try to add them, then you might see bad things happen to your account (it won't)
You can do it right online or over the phone and usually get answer instantly either way saying it's approved and card will be sent.
Your long history with Amex won't help them in that they will have report showing when they first had amex card... but the account in general probably would help them especially if high limit... just not the backdating part, but flash forward 5 years and they get their own amex, then they could backdate to this AU you had them on in 2012
I want to point out that Amex is a special case: they have additional cardmembers, not AUs. That matters for several reasons. First, the additional cardmember will not get your history on their CR. Their membership date will be the day the card was issued (unless they are existing or previous amex cardholders). So the "piggyback" effect you get from AU cards may not happen. Yes, I know this was more variable in the past, but it is now pretty consistent.
Second, unlike with AUs, Amex does reserve the right to go after the additional cardmember for charges he/she makes if you fail to pay.
So the reason to make your fiance and brother additional cardmembers would be if you either a, wanted them to use the card, or b, wanted to establish an Amex relationship so that later on they could get their own cards. It will not give them the immediate score boost an AU on a traditional visa/mc would.
Personally, my wife is an additional cardmember on my hilton surpass because she pays the utility/cable/cell bills and we get 6 points/dolalr for these. She is also a member since 1999, so got backdated even though my membership started in 2012. Amex makes it easy to filter charges, so she will pay what she charges every month and I pay what I charge. At least that's the plan ![]()

Nice to see a female who appreciates a man enough to actually chipin. My motto is treat those well who treat you well. Too often people treat the wrong people well.
