Adding authorized user and reporting

Does a CC company need a social security # to add a person as a authorized user to show on the credit reports? For example, I want to add someone as a authorized user on my Dillard's AMEX, will it show up automatically on their credit report? It didn't require me to input a social security # when i requested it online.

macys didnt ask for a social from my GF neither did victoria secret and they're both on her reports.... i honestly don't know how they verify it. maybe by address?

Not always, but some do.

Amex requires a SS#.

I just added DW to my Chase Freedom and they didn't ask for a SSN.  We'll see if it reports.

BoFA required a SS# but Dillards Amex doesn't.
