As everyone knows here, or from what I have read on these forums, Capital One can be quite stingy with potential CLIs and the sort.
With only possessing three credit cards to my name (2 unsecured and 1 secured), I tried the path of contacting the EO to see about a potential raise for my card.
Aware that I have only possessed it for 6 months prior, I was worried that the EO might see my request as selfish and a little too soon, considering that some users here have had crappy credit lines stay the same for years. My CL at the time of the request was 250 with a Credit Steps increase to 500.
The EO got back to me, and asked questions regarding: 1. What was my job status? 2. Why did I make this request?
After answering these questions, I also pushed my luck and went for: 1. A product change to the Quicksilver (This was denied unfortunately) 2. A rewards program (Approved for 1 percent for all purchases) 3. Waiving of the annual fee (Approved for the first year)
The EO then notified me I would get my CLI in a couple days. The website then notified me I would be getting a 500 dollar increase. This was better than nothing and I was happy with it.
The icing on top of the cake however is when I checked my account two weeks later and I received another 500 dollar increase totaling my new limit to 1,250. From only potentially receiving a CLI to 500 with being part of the program, I received an extra 750! So, Capital One can be ok.

So the EO called you back after you had made your request just to notify you that you were GOING to be getting a CLI in a few days? Or had you already got it when they called you back?
They just called me back and I havent returned the call yet...no CLI yet so im thinking its a decline but maybe there is still hope?

Sorry if my message was a little unclear.
I actually received an email via Capital One notifying me to call them back.
I was supposed to receive a call when the CLI was approved - but the CLI came with no call from the EO.
It could be that they just want further clarification from you, or if it is a decline, they could have just notified you via email. Fingers crossed
Congrats!
Their EO office is very helpful. I went with the same route when I asked for my CLI after having the card for a year.
That's awesome news
I'm going to try this as well. I like Capital One's on-line interface, and their customer service has been great to me as a new cardholder. However, with an annual fee (can't recall whether it's waived for the first year) and no reward options, it's hard to justify using it over other cards in my wallet. I'm in the 5 step program as well, so we'll see if I can negotiate a PC, higher CLI and waived AF after a few months.
Thanks Lexie, Nya, & Home
It is great to see another card close to my IT limits, though I am suspecting Discover will surpass that in a couple months!
lol hopefully not too many people are bombarding the EO, soon there will be no more EO!
What is the email/ number you called? I have had my card for over a year and only recieved one cli on both cards through the steps program. I have never been late on a payment and when I first got it I paid 2x a month. I hit a tough situation and have carried a high balance, but once again have NEVER been late. But they refuse to give me another cli.
J14k,
Can you give me the numbers or email add of EO of Capital One? I've had the card for over a year, always ontime payment and my fico score increased to almost 700 during that time, but my CL is stuck on 500 and talking to representatives there are total waste of time.
