Okay...so anyone know anything about First Tech? I am looking to obtain another CC and because everyone seems to encourage getting a CC from a CU, I was thinking about going through my own CU (which is currently Addison Avenue). However, they have stated that they plan to merge with First Tech soon. I recently was burned by Chase recently with a 12K to $500 CLD on my Chase card (formerly a Providian, then WaMu, now Chase). So, I am looking to increase my available revolving credit...and maybe take advantage of a balance transfer special if I so find one that is worthwhile.
Why does everyone seem to love PEDFED? Might it be a better option than Addison Avenue? I have used Addison Avenue with a car loan purchase years ago (paid off several years ago). But I have maintained about $200 in their credit union savings since then.
I used to bank with them, in Seattle. They are microsofts choice of CU and are very liberal. I give them 5/5 stars.
Also, they use Equifax for scoring and if you already know your scores they will tell you the rates before you apply.

Looks like Addison Avenue willoperate as First Tech with the merger now. No official go until approval, which is expected this summer. Hopefully they will pull EQ, since FTCU pulls only EQ....Addison pulls only EX. So we'll see. I probably will open an account at Addison soon, as I planned to anyway (before the merger). Who knows? maybe I can be a benefator of something good from the merger.
I joined AA in June 09 but only applied for their credit products recently. Approved (with one EX pull), for 10K cc at 7.25% and 5K personal LOC at 11.9%. Be aware though that most CU's, including AA and Alliant have gone to variable rates so, as the prime goes up, so will your APR.
I wonder whose credit products will be offered. I bank with First Tech, and the cards are very vanilla.
