Hi All. I received an email informing that my PPC will be automatically upgraded to the MasterCard unless I opt out. Usually use PPC for 6 mo/0 interest on an occasional utility bill, federal tax payment, or online purchase. Are there any considerations for upgrading or opting out? My primary use for another bank card would be balance transfer offer opportunities.

are you sure that's a real email?
I've never seen anything about synch force product changing from paypal credit to paypal MC, they are two entirely different products with two entirely different usecases
paypal credit has useful 0% apr periods on certain paypal purchases
paypal mastercard has 3% back on paypal purchases
neither is good for balance transfers, you'll want to look elsewhere for that
My wife got the same email. I made sure she did not click anything and login to paypal website and it popped up on there an option to accept or decline. It looks like it still is going to give 0 for 6 on paypal purchases over $150. Maybe there trying to give people another way to use the line. The logo looks different than the current paypal mastercard.

Just FYI, apparently they're upgrading quite a few folks: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/1kyoj3u/paypal_credit_automatically_upgrading_to_a/
Hey all! I just received an email from Synchony that my PayPal digital credit line is being automatically updated to a PayPal Credit Mastercard unless I manually opt out. Synchrony claims the new card will retain the same benefits as the digital line of credit plus they add on 0% APR for 6 months for "Travel Purchases" for a limited time until 1/31/26.
The only downside I see from the literature is Synchrony raises the dollar amount the 6 month 0% APR benefit kicks in at from $99 to $149. Of course the upside is now you can take advantage of this benefit everywhere Mastercard is accepted rather than just wherever PayPal is accepted--usually only online.
Also it appears my APR has risen to 30% and my minimum payment has risen from $27 to $30. But I believe these changes occurred before this offer.
I checked to make sure this isn't a scam email and it's not. When I logged into the PayPal website I got the same notification. I don't know if everyone is being automatically converted or it's a limited conversion based on credit profile. Synchrony claims it's an exclusive offer but I doubt it. I think everyone with the credit line will be getting the notification.
Have you gotten yours?

The $149 amount (up from $99) in order to get the 6 months 0% APR benefit was actually recently updated on the Paypal credit account (I believe it took effect May 1st). It's not specific to this new Mastercard.
Is it confirmed that if one accepts the upgrade, they'll still have access to 0% financing on ALL transactions of $149+, just now with a physical card for transactions in physical stores? I've read conflicting info.

the wording on the upgrade letter says "paypal purchases" so I am guessing that only includes purchases made the thru paypal and not swiped with a card.

Thanks for sharing. I have PPC and PPMC and was immediately curious about PPC having a physical card. Here's what I learned:
1. The upgrade opportunity was sent to a small number of customers on 5/29/2025, and existing PPC eligible will convert to PayPal Credit Card in July.
2. For new applicants, you either approved for PayPal Credit Card or the PayPal Credit digital account; source: www.paypal.com/us/campaign/paypal-credit/faq-dual
3. The PayPal (World) Mastercard continues as a separate product; however, the terms and conditions suggests cardholders might be eligible for deferred financing promotional offers from time to time.

Oh, this is quite interesting... so there are now two Paypal Mastercard cards.
What are the differences between PayPal's different credit products?
So the folks who are being upgraded are not getting the 3% cash back card, but a different "PayPal Credit Card" that doesn't have cash back but instead is just a plastic version of the digital-only account. It also appears that when one applies for PP Credit, you now get either the digital-only account or the non-cash back Mastercard based on your credit history - you don't have a choice.
TL;DR: With this new clarification, I don't see any reason to not accept the upgrade. Unless I'm missing something, the nuts-and-bolts of how the account works will remain the same, you'll just have an additional way to access it. This is not a transition to the PP Mastercard that has 3% cash back for PP purchases.
