Advice

I want to finally get a nice prime card and have been getting prequals from Citi, Discover, and Chase. Was thinking Discover IT. I want a nice intro 0% APR with rewards and long-term low APR, with a nice CL. I have been thinking for days about who to app with.

Scores are about 680 Ex/ 700 Eq/Tu. Ex has an open collection from 4 years ago (< $1000). Util is about 20%. No new accounts in the last year but overall AAoA of revolving credit lines is pretty short. I have a bunch of mortgage pulls also.

I applied for furniture financing a few days ago through Wells for $8,500 and was approved for $8,000. They pulled all 3. I do not want to lose my furniture. So if you think there is a chance they will CLD me or something if I apply for another card now please say so. This is my first unsecured credit line in this price range. Obviously, when this near maxed out and possible consumer finance account reports, it is going to be bad news for my scores.

Thanks!

If you are going to do it, now is the time, before the new limit posts to your CR... you will be slowed down a bit while you get that paid down...

I do not think a CLD would occur, but you never know when banks anymore...

I hear a LOT about Discover IT... and I am thinking myself of getting one, It appears to be a great card, with wonderful CS.

I LOVE my Freedom card, and have never had any issue that I couldn't call and get fixed with Chase CS, so I highly recommend them.

Even if you have to recon at Chase, they are pretty good about it and you can explain the mortgage pulls.

Anyone you are getting a Preapp for via website, I would review what they are offering, and then make an informed decision on what is going to help YOU the most, and save you money in the long run..

and if you can get them both, they say Freedom/IT is a great Combo for the bonuses..

GL to you

Re: Advice

Oh yeah as what he said as well Chase you can actually explain anything if you was to recon and maybe come out with approval if denied at first for maybe the mortgage pulls you can explain to them and they can overturn the denial.

Discover it you have a very very very slim to no chance at all getting a denial turned into a approval. They pretty much stick with what you are served from what i have heard on here. Good Luck

Re: Advice

Chase pulls Ex though right? I have an open collection on there as stated, also I have the inq for the furniture.

Also if anyone else can offer opinions on the CLD chances I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Re: Advice

I checked and I am sure they will pull the Ex if not both.

How is Discover IT with a recent inq? Because otherwise I should be golden for approval.

The other one I was considering is Citi TYP.

Re: Advice

BUMP... anyone know if my recent inq will affect Discover IT approval, and do you think I am safe with my previous furniture financing approval? After the whole mortgage thing, I have gotten a little paranoid.

Re: Advice

YMMV but I purchased a home in Feb last year-opened up two accounts before applying for Discover in May.  I got a invitation from DIscover at my new address, but I had to still call in for vertification.  They asked about my recent inquiry which they knew was related to the home purchase.  They really did not seem concerned at all-again your YMMV.

My Wallet: Amex Express BCE $27,000, Amex Express Blue Sky $6,000, Delta SkyMiles $10,000, Discover $14,000, Chase Freedom $23,500, Capital One $8,000, SAMS $10,000, and LOWES $10,000
