Affinity & DCU Pre Approvals

I know they do the pre approvals every quarter and their is no guaranties that I will get any. So anyone that already has both DCU & Affinity what time each quarter do they do them? Like the first day of the quarter or later in the month?

Re: Affinity & DCU Pre Approvals

I know that DCU does them the first day of the quarter, and I believe Affinity does too since I get emails that my preapproved offers end the last day of the quarter.

DCU said my FICO as of 27 Aug "753". It's much better if they used a new credit model. LOL. When I spoke to a rep they said it "ok" credit score, I felt like saying if you used FICO 8 or 9 it would be more like 796.

Affinity has yet to post my FICO, but it should be around "790." AMEX EX 8 score.

Are for both a SP if you accept an offer?

I'm hoping that Affinity gives me the PLOC as an offer as I like to have that! Can you use the PLOC with them for just advances? Not just overdraft.

DCU I want just the credit card.

Re: Affinity & DCU Pre Approvals

A 753 EQ5 score is more than enough to get approved for the DCU credit card. I've gotten plenty of preapproved offers from them with an equal or lower score. And I definitely get offered their lowest interest rates available, so that shouldn't be an issue. I can say for sure that if you accept a preapproved offer from DCU, there will be no hard pull. I have accepted both a CC CLI offer and an Auto refinance from them, and both were SPs, based on my EQ5 score with them.

As for Affinity, I imagine it works the same way, but I can't confirm since I have not taken them up on any offers. I do currently have a $10k preapproval for their checking LOC, but I'm on the fence about accepting.

ETA - how long have you been a member with either CU? Do you currently have any offers? Or are you hoping some open up in October?

Both credit unions about 60 days. LOL. I'm hoping that I will get some but if not it's ok too. I really don't need any other cards on some level it makes you feel good that you can if you need something and are wanted. LOL. I may take a Auto loan if I get a good rate. Only thing that i have right now is a lot of student loans (All current) and they are new this year. Did for DCU have to give any docs after you accepted? Were is Affinity FCU page at. I don't have it anywhere on my page. Can you share the are I can look at? Thanks!

Re: Affinity & DCU Pre Approvals

Ah ok. So the accounts are still new. Just make sure you are signed up to receive your free Fico score with each CU (it's the only way to get preapproval offers). DCU gives your score every month and AFCU does it every quarter, I believe. And yeah, I totally get the satisfaction of having an offer lol.

As for finding the offers for AFCU, are you looking on the app or website? They recently updated so it looks different. I'm currently on my phone so I'll show you on the mobile app:

Thank you so much for the info. I will call Affinity to make sure I'm sighed up for their FICO. I don't have a FICO yet with them (I have a FICO in general), DCU I have two credit score updates to date. I'm on a computer (mac).

Re: Affinity & DCU Pre Approvals

Typically with Affinity, the pre-approved offers start appearing around approx. 6 months of membership. On the website they are found on the right side of the front page, next to your listed accounts....

Did you accept any of the offers? Was it a SP or a HP? Did they request any docs?

AMEX Charge Cards Mortgage FICO 5

I had herd that AMEX Charge Cards affect Mortgage FICO 5 Scores. I don't know if anyone has any info on that. I'm not looking into a mortgage but it's the score that DCU uses and did not know if that will affect me any having a Charge Card. I'm going to apply and did not know if that will ding my FICO. My FICO EQ 5: 753 but my FICO 8/9 are in the high 795 ish range.
