Cardnal did not say Cap 1 suck I did... me..... I did and they do. That is my opinion and I am sticking with it. And they will give you more than 2 subprime cards I have 3. My scores are not all that good but I am working on it and being aggravated is a natural part of my process as I am sure some of you have been that way too. It seems that you all frown on those of us with less than scores but some of yours have been there too and you know the process so be patient with us. After all you're telling us to be patient well drink your own tea. Or simple don't comment. I just won't ask you people nothing else.

Okay, you can dislike Cap One, and you can say that you should have been approved for whatever card because....
But, the fact remains that currently your scores say that you are a high risk...
Each lender looks at YOUR credit and makes a determination based upon what they see. I have been a member of this forum just short of 2 months. My starting scores are in my sig. Chase turned me down for the Freedom card...BoA (who I have been banking with for 15 years) turned down my request to unsecure my card..Barclay no join... Now I have all. It is your responsibility to make the changes. I am amazed at how personal members take decisions by lenders? I assure you, if you cleaned up baddies on your report and raised your score just 55 points, you might have seen a different result.
This is definitely worth repeating. I did the same. After the usual 7 year fall offs, I worked on remaining collections, set to fall off between 2016 and 2019. They are now all gone, and poof, instant over 700 scores. I had a couple of cards at work while rebuilding (cleaning up reports), and that's all you need.
Capital one uses some funky 04 scoring model, so your internal scores to them are even lower. This is a game played slowly. But the end results are worth it.
+1 OP you can be aggravated if you want, but its important to manage expectations. Cap 1 is a conservative lender so your results are not surpising.
They are conservative and sometimes judge their customers with outrageous measures; but if OP has a Freedom card with better rewards why not opt to support that card?
That's what i'm doing...both of my cap1 cards and my wifes have been stashed away in the sock drawer. I did put $100 on my Platinum around Christmas time, but other than that, it gets no useage. I was using DW Quicksilver but once i got my Freedom it was over with.

As a general note to everyone posting in this thread, sometimes a harsh truth can come across as not being within our "Friendly, Supportive, and Respectful" guidelines. Please use extra caution in wording reactions to make sure we stay within site guidelines.
That being said, I do agree that scores and profiles that appear "risky" will be treated as such by lenders. It's a business decision and most of us here have had unfavorable decisions at some point. It can be frustrating and disappointing, but it can also be a learning tool. If denied, get those free CRs and review. Review the denial letters and figure out the action that needs to take place.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Like i said, my scores arent the best, but Im proud of the progrss Ive made.
I don't think anyone was intentionally being rude, and yes, many have been there with lower scores. The message I think people are trying to get across is that with your scores being where they are, you can't expect as much, that's all. CLI and new approvals are not going to happen for you with those scores IMO...you just have to garden, wait and grow. Then you'll be more succesful.

I agree with your concern over the tone, which is why I've respectfully requested that members responding use more caution with their wording. We're certainly all here to learn and grow.

+1, telling someone their scores suck in caps was unnecessary but I don't think the poster meant it to be malicious (and with time those scores will increase). They were just trying to emphasize the point they were making. Bottom line is that people should research lenders in detail first and that will normally give them a sense of what their chances are. None of the actions by Cap 1 seem to be anywhere outside their standard operating procedures. You may not like their policies, but you can not expect a different result from all those who have gone before in similar circumstances.

Just relax, and keep it friendly and respectful. You can't determine whom posts in a thread. And most of us have been there, giving you valuable results from experience. I didn't know the huge jump I would see once the CR clean up was done, but I never denigrated anyone for having higher scores than moi.
Please try not to take responses aimed from experience as personal attacks. They aren't. Just spend some time in the rebuilding forum (where most of us started), and find even more support. And being in the garden means patience, since I didn't take the plunge for bigger cap one cards, even though I qualified.
You wish respect? Show respect. Plenty of knowledge to be gained here.
Just why... I am sure everyone has had a rant or 2. These 2 people are aware their scores are not good and are trying. It takes massive courage to post in a public forum. Sure, scores are low but there are better ways to put. We are all working towards 1 goal and that is a better score. They know they have to be patient but are just frustrated hence the rant. If you are going to encourage them to keep going do it in a nice way and not in a hurtful manner just because we have passed the stage those 2 are now.
The hypocrisy of "kudoed" post is albeit ridiculous.
