Alaska sub

I saw that if you spend 1k you get 30k points and 1k gets the companion fare. Is that 2k total or just 1k gets both?

There is no spend requirement to get the companion fare.  You get the companion fare on your anniversary date:

" Primary cardholders whose accounts are open and in good standing on their annual Account Anniversary date will receive a Companion Fare code within the first 2 billing cycles after the Anniversary date each year, which will be credited to their Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan™ account."

Re: Alaska sub

You get a companion fare as part of the sub, in addition to the annual one. The typical advertised sub is 30k miles and a companion fare for just the taxes. Both become available when you meet the minimum spend of $1k. But, there was also a “trick” to get a $100 statement credit on top of that. This offer appears when you make a mock reservation, go all the way to end where you make the payment, and the ad shows the $100 credit by clicking through that link. You don’t have to buy the tickets to get the credit, just meet the $1k spend. This worked for me a couple of months ago. I hope it’s still available.

Then, the annual companion fare is separate and comes every year, right after your anniversary. The difference is the one you get immediately with the sub is not subject to the $99 fee, only the taxes.

Re: Alaska sub

The $100 statement credit trick still works...
