All things are possible: Chase!

So, the other day I was lamenting my decline from Chase.  "past/present deliquent blah blah...."  So, I called for the reconn and, although the lady was nice, I realized I didn't really "sell" her on my qualification for the card, the least of which is the substantial cash I have on deposit at Chase!

So, I called for a third time.  Actually, I called about 5 times and tried to guage how responsive the customer rep was based on some general questions--"does Chase consider relationship when evaluating blah blah".  So, after finding a sufficiently nice representative I divulged my identity and reference number.  She pulled up my account and repeated the reasons for decline.  I assured her that the events leading to any perceived delinquency were in the past, and they were--6 years ago!  She then asked about the accounts and upon seeing that I had over 15k in checking account alone said that she could reevaluate the account immediately.  She returned to the phone and stated that she could recommend 3K (a FAR cry from what I was considering, but still a reversal from a denial!) for a Chase Freedom Visa Signature.  Of course it's not the Visa Signature that's the card that I want...its the regular Chase Freedom......

I'll wait to resolve the card issue when I receive my welcome materials.  But, yes, I'm now a believer in the recon system!!!  Although it took 3 tries....I got the system to acknowledge the person behind the app.  That's worth its weight in gold.  (They checked EQ....I don't believe the reconns cost more inqs 658 EQ FICO)

Re: All things are possible: Chase!

FYI:  The chase freedom signature card does not report credit limit...but the chase non-signature will ...if you need the limit for util. you may want to keep the non-signature card.

Re: All things are possible: Chase!

I stated it a little oddly, but that's my point exactly. I received the Freedom Signature Visa and I don't want it, I want the non-signature. However, my utility is always 5% so....

Great job! Always nice to hear a success story, especially one where you could have easily given up. Now if only we can get Chase to pull EQ in ny Smiley Wink

Re: All things are possible: Chase!

I'm in CT (New Haven).  Interestingly, when I applied for my Chase checking, they did soft pull on EX, which dissuaded me from applying--I thought they would do likewise for the credit app and I can't risk the AMEX wrath (I believe AMEX only softs EX, or at least that's what they do for me).  Anyway, for three months I refrained from applying.   FYI....the app is pulled by "First USA", which I guess is a division of Chase???  I decided to lock my EX as a security measure (still believe its the best $10 investment I've ever made Smiley Happy) and applied; as it turns out, they pulled EQ.  That was good and bad news.  Good news is EQ didn't have the kinds of baddies that the others had (though it still has farrrr more than I'd like to admit).

Anyway, the representative did hint at the fact that after I establish a credit history with Chase, I could call to ask for a CLI....which indicates that Chase may not be keen on auto-CLIs.  We'll see I guess

Re: All things are possible: Chase!

Chase likes to see you run $$ through your card and then PIF (I guess they all do). Point is, Chase is/has been rather generous with their CLI. Every few months (5 or 6) they'll review your account and give you a CLI - or not.

Re: All things are possible: Chase!

If your util is at 5% without the new card, there is no reason to switch to the non-signature.
