Always recon multiple times LOL... Applied for the Chase Freedom today to compliment my CSP as I spend a lot eating out and on gas and the rotating categories will do wonders for my UR points balance. the analyst told me I had a 719 EX, 16% utl, she denied my application due to too many new accounts (2 in January of 2013 and 1 in October of 11, and 3 in August of 2011). called in a couple of times later in the day and denied again each time, the last guy actually commented that this was my third call and it wasn't going to change. Waited about 6 hours and said what the heck, nothing to loose and decided to call again. Nice lady answered the phone and I gave her all my good points before I gave her a change to pull up my information (10k spend in 2 months on my CSP, 12+ year credit history, 4.5 ys AAoA, carrying no balance on any cards all PIF). She talked with me for about 15 minutes about my credit profile and why I wanted the card. She said the only issue was I looked like a risk due to so many inquirys and the balances on my cards, I again explained to her that I PIF every month and I could provide my statements from any of the cards she needed back 6 months or so to prove that if necessary. At that point she told me she would go ahead and override the previous guys decision and since I already had a CSP they would overnight my new card to me and I would have it at the latest by Friday. SCORE, it took 4 recon calls but I didn't have to waste an inquiry. Have a couple of big spends coming up and have been considering updating my 2 year old macbook pro to the new retina model so the 15 months no interest will sure come in handy!!!
now off to the garden for quite a while!!!!
grats!!!! how much CL did they give u?
So the first few times they didn't even talk about taking some CL from the CSP? Just said no?

Thank you,
I have everything I want, or need for that matter. Now I'm going to work on getting my credit lines up, although I might app for the Citi AA card in 10-12 months for the bonus miles.
+1 to always recon
I had the exact same thing happen with me and Chase. They initially declined me for the card due to bk and told me that I should wait 2 years to reapply. I waited about 4 or 5 hours, called back and BAM!! Approved for $5K so I am one who believes in calling in as many times as it takes. If it takes multiple days of calling I say do it because what have you got to lose?
