Talk about a raw deal. Man, that sucks. Never heard of this before. Sorry to hear =/

+1 ....what is going on with Chase?? There was just a post where someone got hit with BT fees on a new Slate. ...this really sucks to float offers where you will have to inspect every word in the T&Cs !

I saw that! I know this was my fault, but still sucks. Definitely isn't the end of the world though, at least.
That really sucks! I've never seen a CSP offer where the AF wasn't waived. I'm sorry to hear this happened to you.

looks like they're being sneaky this month (take advantage of the sleepy holiday shoppers)
@Anonymous wrote:Just an update, I spoke with the executive office and they said they could not waive the fee, as the promotion changes often with some having the annual fee waived and others not. Even though I've literally never seen a promotion without it waived hah. oh well, lesson learned to always closely look at terms while applying, not just ads before and after!
Don't give up yet! Chase is known to honor better sign-up bonus offers within 90 days via a secure message request. With that in mind, I would think it's also possible for them to honor better AF terms as well.

What else can I do/say? Both the rep through secure message and the EO said there's nothing that can be done about it. Although I'd take some extra UR points at this point haha... I don't know how to ask without sounding like that's all I wanted the whole time.
I got a Sapphire Preferred last month and the annual fee was applied. I sent a secure message and the reply was that they couldn't waive the fee because I had received the promotion with 70,000 bonus points instead of (40,000 with the fee waived). I would have applied for the 70,000 with the fee but that promotion was supposed to have ended several weeks before my application. You might contact them again and see how many bonus points you are getting, although they stated it as the reason I got the first year fee and I see no mention of it in the response they sent you.

Definitely have the 40,000 bonus. What's your annual fee? $95 or $150?
$95.
