Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
If theres a benefit for you and its a lower annual fee i'd say why not
to clarify i meant to wait to upgrade to that same card

So last month, I got my second CC ever, the AmEx Gold card. Been really good with it, putting any spending on it when I can and already paid it off.
Today, got an offer in the mail with RSVP code to apply for PRG. AmEx said my two options would be to apply for it as a new account or wait until my 12 month mark next Feb and have the card upgraded.
Do you guys think I should just wait it out and keep growing the Gold card?
Ignore it for now and keep using the card. If you eventually qualify for an upgrade they will let you know and make it easy. I went from PRG to Platinum is less than 6 months but the emailed me an offer to upgrade not just apply. No matter the additional points earned above you current Gold card I don't think it's worth the higher AF or additional HP.

Wish this offer would have come earlier haha. I initially got the Green offer and thought that was the bomb, then they upgraded me to Gold during the application. Didn't even know about PRG vs Gold at the time just said sure why not.
Follow-up though. Say next Feb when my 12 months with Gold is up do I 1) keep the gold 2) upgrade to PRG or 3) product change it to a BCP or other revolving credit line? Keeping in mind I'll almost be ready to graduate college by the time the 12 months hits so income'll still be college student level but (hopefully!) rising pretty substantially after graduation
is it even possible to PC from a charge card to a revolver? I'd stick with what ya got for now then see how much difference the PRG would get you.
