AmEx card not from AmEx

Hi, everyone--I have a USAA AmEx card which I'm perfectly happy with. I've been reading all the adventures people have had with multiple AmEx cards and switching cards and Luv buttons and everything else. What's the story on AmEx cards that are issued by someone else? USAA has been the one that raised my CL and dropped my interest.

Signed,

Aloha again! USAA is the issuer so none of the Amex good or bad applies here.

So when I'm looking at my cards (all three of them! plus the Discover that I've been added to as AU in the mail, I guess), it doesn't matter a bit whether they say AmEx or MC or Visa, it's just the issuer?

I know this makes sense somehow, but it's wearing me out.

Re: AmEx card not from AmEx

Lets just put it this way... You don't have to worry about the financial reviews from American Express.

It goes by the issuer. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the issuer uses both their underwriting and scoring model and that of Amex's. In fact, I'm going to look into this.

Re: AmEx card not from AmEx

fused....

When a bank, other then American Express Bank issues an AMEX card it uses it's own underwriting and scoring guidelines. It is also puts up the reserve capital for the credit line.

Another words...... in partner and sponsored cards AMEX does rely on it's own partners to screen out cardholders and issue them credit lines. AMEX makes profits by sharing fees charged to merchants. It also does not allocate the reserve capital, so it is the most profitable way to do business at the moment for AMEX in credit cards lest the charge cards.

There will be no FR on BOFA AMEX Worldpoints and others.

Hope it helps.

I'll be interested to see what you find out.

Hey, wait a minute, what's with the yin-yang and the new signature? Are you now Hawaii Guam-O? Or Guam Fic-o?
