I opened an AmEx account back in October (BCP - instant approval via cardmatch) and hit the 60-day mark for CLI about a week ago. I have gotten statements for both October (small balance) and December ($0 balance). Neither my account nor the inquiry (AmEx said over the phone that they pulled all three bureaus) has shown up on Credit Sesame or Credit Karma, so today I ordered my Experian report to check for sure. The initial hard inquiry is there, but the account still isn't reporting after two billing cycles. There is also a soft pull from early November.
Is this normal? I was hoping to get my CLI in before the end of the year, but if they haven't even starting reporting yet and haven't pulled my report in almost 2 months, it seems like a bad idea to try now. I called customer service, who directed me to the credit reporting department, but they are closed for the weekend.
Yes, it is normal. Whether you decide to wait for another sp before requesting your CLI is up to you. Have your CR's changed since November?
Yes, reporting lag time is pretty normal for AMEX's new accounts.
Hello elegia,
I'm in the same boat: opened a BCE in October and it still isn't being reported to the 3 bureaus. I was approved for 2k, and got the 3x CLI to 6k on the 61st day. Still nothing on my reports.
My second statement just closed, so I'm hoping it shows up on there soon.
The timeframe can vary. Anywhere from 2-3 statement cycles at most.
If you're in the market for a CLI and AMEX isn't reporting (whereby you're relying on this to even out the profile or for leverage), I would just wait. However, not all lenders will match CLs to that of another lender (it can come relatively close if approved). However, a lot depends on a variety of factors such as your DTI, open lines, estabished history, utilization, etc.

Hm, I see. Basically, I wanted to apply for a new card before the end of the year so I could have a 2013 opening date instead of 2014 - I know, not anything to pick over, just a personal preference and a wild hunch that lenders might look more favorably on it even if it's only a few days difference. I am going to be needing my first loans next year and my credit history is very thin. CK and CS put my scores in the 790 range but I am terribly dubious since I only have one account a little over 2 years reporting currently and only just got my second card in October. Anyway, I am guessing that it would be best to request the AmEx increase without the extra hard pull from a new app showing up yet, so I guess I'll just have to wait for both the CLI and the CC app.
That sounds more viable. This will provide a couple more months of aging to make it ore optimal when you decide to submit for the CLI.
Seems it is common, as same is the case with me.
I opened a Costco TrueEarning on October 25 and my Second statement generated on Dec 25. I got my 61 days CLI but still no sign of card on CS, CK or Quizzle, though enquiry was reported.
