I've had my AmEx BCE card for a couple months. Last statement, I paid in full. I currently have a balance I want to pay prior to statement date/posting (as I have a balance on another card I want to report).
I keep clicking on 'make a payment' and I receive the message that no payment is due and then no work around for it or the ability to proceed anyway. I also tried the little 'pay it' next to an item and couldn't do it that way either. I tried via app and through their website.
Am I not able to make payments between statement dates?
Have the charges cleared, or are they still pending? They won't allow you to pay until they've cleared.
@Anonymous You can make a Payment by Phone by calling the number on your credit card, or you can push an ACH payment from your bank to the account.
They have cleared (from 4/24 and 5/3). Nothing is pending....

Thank you for the information. I have never come across this before...
It's not a huge deal but glad I know for future reference.
What day of the month will your statement cut?
How long has the bank account been on your Amex profile?
^^^ that's the question. Amex only allows one payment from your account during the first 30 days the bank is linked to your Amex account. After that all restrictions are lifted.

In addition to that, they will not accept a "Total Balance" payment from an account that has been added to your profile for less than 30 days. They will only accept an "Other Amount" less than the Total Balance.
