Called to see when I was able to upgrade from green to platinum as I know I couldn't do it before one year on the green card. They said my anaversary date is for June 8th but she said she would see if it would go through now, and it did. I travel a lot so I am every happy and excited for this card!
Congrats on the upgrade!

This is so TRUE!!!!
Congrats!!!
I have card envy. I desperately want the Platinum even though it probably doesn't make sense for me. Mind if I live vicariously?
Not to be a killjoy, but i think you should have apped for it. You just lost out of sign up bonuses.
I was under the impression that once you're with Amex you can't get any sign-up bonuses with them.

My understanding is that you can get sign-up bonuses on new-to-you Amex products, but not on cards you've held in the past. Not sure how that works with the various charge cards (i.e. if a green card holder can get a bonus for a new platinum), but I'm sure others can and will chime in.

I believe what the recent change is that you can only earn a signup bonus for a particular card once. People have been churning the cards, opening and satisfying the min spend, cancelling the cards after transferring or using the rewards, and then rinsing and repeating when they want to get another signup bonus (for the exact same card they used to have).
