I decided not to renew Amazon Prime this year. I don't watch Prime video, or use really any other feature other than free shipping and you can get free shipping by spending $35 anyway, so I figured I'd see how I did without it.
But I forgot that the Chase Visa changes to a 3% card when you don't have Prime. I'm curious if there's another card option that's 5% that does not require having Prime?
Affinity FCU Cash Rewards Visa. Limited to $1K per month.
Affinity, Amazon by Syncrony and Amex Amazon Business(granted 3% withhout prime). Sure there are others that code Amazon as 5% least on quarters such as Discover, Freedom and likely other CU's
Usb shoppers visa offers 6% on two retailers you choose (from a limited list). I picked Amazon and walmart. Also good for 3% at Costco and sams. $1500/quarter.
Edit
There's a $95 af, waived first year, $250 sub.
Extra bonus, the card lights up for tap to pay (im easily amused)

nfcu flagship to change the cost of prime to $49 instead of $139 is something to consider
And they offer a $400 sub. I'm sub crazy!
There are plenty 5% cards for Amazon. Anyway, there are some downsides due to dropping from Amazon Prime membership, such as reduced delivery speed, shipping cost and no free return (shipping free).
I think that new Wells Fargo card gets 4%.
I mean, if you don't spend a ton at Amazon and don't mind a little hassle just use other 5% cards to get a balance:
Buy no fee Visa/MC at Staples with Chase CIC
Buy Amazon card at CVS with Custom Cash
Buy Amazon card at a grocery store with PayPal debit card
Etc.
I've been enjoying the 6% (and currently 7%) cash back using my Chase Prime card, with no-rush shipping. I ordered the kids a $300 Oculus today and got 7%. So, an extra $6 CB. An extra 1 - 2% CB beats the old 'digital dollars' they offered. Not that those had no use though. I just got the NFCU Flagship so I'll be paying $49 for Prime instead of $139 (but don't forget, the $139 is taxed in many states). But, yeah, otherwise Affinity, maybe paired with a 5% rotator which might give 5% on Amazon and/or PayPal a quarter or two per year. Or, the BoA CCR at 5.25% on-line if you have Plat Honors.

Looks like no special hoops to jump through to join the credit union either? I'll give this one a try, thank you!
