Looks like no special hoops to jump through to join the credit union either? I'll give this one a try, thank you!
I have the Affinity FCU Cash Rewards and I have been very happy with it. It has been somewhat nerfed from what it was in the past, with rotating categories and such, but it is still a great way for me to earn 5% cash back on Amazon purchases without me having Amazon Prime.
I bought a $100 air fryer today and there was an additional offer to get 10% back if I used my Chase Prime card. Nice. So there are little benefits here and there for using the Chase Prime. Also, I got 7% for choosing no-rush shipping.
On the topic of reducing the price, prime for students is 69$ a year if you can get an edu email. (I'm actually a student though.)
Student Loans=$35000, maximum allowed

Wow, thank you for that comment! I had completely forgotten about the student discount. I'm actually taking a class at the community college and they gave me an .edu email! I think for that price, I'll probably just get Prime again. I just hate how they keep raising the price, and the shipping isn't even two day anymore.
I did the student thing for the max I could (5 years). But, sadly, 5 years came and went.
I read elsewhere that many (most?) Amazon purchases are getting coded in a way that Affinity CB card gives 1%, rather than 5%.
Have you noticed that?
I don't have Prime, and use Amazon visa right now - 3%.
My plan was switch my bank to Affinity - get their CB card for 5% at Amazon, and their debit for 1% on Venmo transactions.
But if the 5% Amazon CB isn't reliable, not so sure.
I made Amazon one of my 6% stores with Us b shoppers visa. It's a $95 fee card, first year waived, $300 sub when I apped.
Amex has an Amazon bidness card. Only 3%, but good up to $120,000 annually.

Yeah, I see the "10% back on these select items" sidebar every time I'm checking out at Amazon.com now.

The 5% CB doesn't apply to things like Audible, I have found (while the Amazon Prime Visa does). But it does apply to Amazon-sold products on Amazon. I'm guessing maybe it's iffy if it's a 3rd-party vendor on Amazon, because when I bought from 3rd-party vendors on Target.com they didn't code the same there. You can buy Amazon credit though (gift card balance), and then use that for the 3rd-party vendors and that should be fine.
Regardless... Affinity is far and away my favorite credit union. They're worth joining even if the Visa isn't quite covering everything. Be sure to check out the checking account that gives 5.5% on up to 15k, and they just added a savings account that matches their SmartStart %, but with a higher cap (tied in to the checking). They actually called me to tell me about it since I have the checking.
