Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

So I opened my Amazon store card back in 12/14 with a limit of $700. They auto-CLI'd to $800 in 07/15, I live-chatted them in 09/15 and received a CLI to $5000.

I've ran money through it, typically do all of my big birthday/holiday purchases on the 0% offers. I carry a balance with them due to that, but the highest it has ever been was $3k and I threw $500+ payments at it after that.

I'm just wondering: what's the historical data on big CLIs for Sync, in succession? I've scrubbed the forums and most of the Amazon CLIs I see are similar in going from 1kish to 5-8kish, but I didn't seem to find a lot of people going for a second big CLI with them. Is that something normally done? I know chat/CS is better than luv button, but is one or the other (chat vs CS) better for something like this? Should I be hitting them up for small increases regularly or should I go for larger ones?

Any tips or advice greatly appreciated. Smiley Happy

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

Im relatively new to the Amazon prime card so my view may not help much but i would imagine besides usage your score and profile may help you get a bigger cli. I can imagine that as your fico rises and profile supports it they will give more increase but only time will tell for me. I was approved for about 1400 about 2 months ago but got it increased to $5000 a week later via CS. When i tried again to increase a month later having a 704 Ex and a 700 TU, I was not approved probably due to age of account, etc. Even took a unforseen HP when done by chat Smiley Sad stinks but i was seeking credit so cant fault anyone but myself. But i do want to try in 6 months to see with an improved score and age of account improves, if its enough to get that cli. Good luck in the future! Smiley Happy

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

I got to 5K pretty easy.......no more CLI's after that even with a fair amount of spend.  I now use my CSP most of the time for purchases.

5k is my starting limit no CLI increase since I open the account on 8/15.

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

Do an online chat with them and tell them that you're buying a house and you need to buy a bunch of furniture and appliances.  Then ask for like a 10k increase.

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

I've had really good experience getting CLIs. I started out with a 2800 CL about a year ago when I opened my Amazon store CC account.

Out of boredom a few months later, hit the luv button and got I think it was 500. Then hit it again a few weeks later and got nothing. A few months passed where I just let it sit, and then I found out from this forum about how it's better to ask via live chat.

So I tried that and I think I only asked for 5k more out of nervousness to ask for more. They immeditately gave it to me so that got me up to around 8500 or so. Then I happened to be moving around some debt (to hide it all, so that I could get more CC's) and got my scores up from 710 or so up to around 770.

At that same time, my Disco card went up from 11k to18300. So when that happened and after all my debt that I wanted to hide, was hidden and reported as gone, I started hitting up all my cards for CLI's and apped for more cards. When doing so I also went on Amazon live chat again, and I think I asked for 5k so that it would bring my Amazon card up to 13k. I had just gotten that last 5k increase maybe a couple of weeks prior, so I wasn't expecting to get anymore, but went for the hell of it due to my scores having shot up so much due to all that debt shuffling I had done.

The rep said he'd have to get back to me. A day or 2 later, I went online and was delightfully surprised to see my limit go from 8k to 18k! Smiley Happy

I think basically all they did is look at my credit via an SP, and saw that my highest card was at 18300, and they just matched it.

I had noticed that Citi seemed to do the same thing when I had apped for their Simplicity card. When I had apped for that during all this app'ing and asking for CLI's, they initially approved me for a lowly 4k I think it was? I called em up and spoke to a rep and she must have done the same thing as Amazon did, and raised my limit up to match my highest other limit.

So I do think it's interesting that CC companies are doing that kind of stuff. Maybe I'm wrong about all that but based on both my iimits going all the way up to 18k to match my current highest limit card, seems to support that theory.

On my Amazon card, I think I  put about 500 through it a month on average. One month I did about 2k. It's always paid in full every month.

I've tried asking for more Amazon CLI's in the last 4 months or so since I got it to 18k, and I keep getting denied. Smiley Sad

Reason they give is I'm at my current highest allowable limit or something like that.

So I did get my card all the way up from 2800 to 18000 within about 6-7 months time. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

With just about all Sync products, it doesn't matter how much you spend and carrying a balance doesn't matter either.  Telling Chat or CS that you're going to be making a large purchase doesn't matter and won't make any difference in their decision at all.  The limits you get with Sync are typically very closely tied to your TU score.  There are many folks around here (myself included) who have gotten increases with very little, and even sometimes no usage.  Some are able to CLI's at approval, some after card received and activation, and some have to wait a while.

If you have a sudden bump in TU score and you've recently received an increase...sometimes they'll grant another if your score warrants it and sometimes it'll trigger the "not enough experience at your current limit" notice.  My point is, don't play the game of carrying a balance, telling them you're about to make a large purchase, or making purchases on things you truly don't want just to trigger a CLI because none of that matters.  Use your cards, pay on time, and as your score increase so will Sync's likelyhood of bumping your limits.

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Schedule?

I opened my amazon account in August.  SL was $2,500.  I got an auto cli to $3,500 in November.  I requested a cli in Feb of $7500 and received that.  I probably left money on the table but I don't need any more than that.  I don't think they have a cli schedule.  I have seen people use the chat feature and ask monthly.  I have seen them wait 6 mo.  I believe Synchrony is a 'your mileage may vary' type of account vs a every 3 or 6 month type of account.
