Amazon.com Chase Visa card questions

I check the forums a couple times a week to keep up to date on different cards and everything, but never see anybody with the Amazon.com Chase Visa card. I've had the card for about 6 months now and like it, but unfortunately they only gave me a $2,000 CLI to start with. I have a few other cards with much higher limits, but I flow all of my purchases and payments through the Amazon card because I like the points system on it. I'm tired of paying off the balance a couple of times a month to make sure I have room to make more purchases with the card. Does Chase give auto-CLI's with this card ever? What is the best way to trigger one? And if they don't, would I have any luck requesting one and is it a hard or soft pull? No baddies of any kind or balances on any of my cards, and like I said I pay off the amazon card in full a few times a month. Oh, also, do they ever lower the APR automatically or by request, just for general information? Thanks

Re: Amazon.com Chase Visa card questions

Chase sometimes does auto at 6 months, if not then you would have to request

It is a hard pull if you request but if you are running lots of charges through it and paying in full, I don't see why you couldn't get a nice increase, be sure to call the backdoor number and just do the request with an analyst that can go over it with you on the spot... they might ask how much your looking for and counter or may just tell you what they can do, but since your taking a hard for it, I would ask for what you really want or match your other CL.

Chase is not currently lowering APR on any cards but if your PIF doesn't much matter.

keep us posted if you request

They must like you. They gave me a CL of $300 when I applied, together with a great promotion that I could hardly use with that limit. They gave me an auto-CLI to $900 after 3 months, and the card got stuck there ever since. It's still my lowest limit. As it's another hard pull for an increase, I never bothered to ask for a CLI.

I've had this card for 5 years, and I don't like it. For awhile it was the only card I had, and they started me with a $500 limit. Never got an auto CLI in four years. When I had some car trouble last summer, I called to ask for an increase of $500 to total $1000 and asked for a lower interest rate. They gave me the CLI, denied the lower interest rate, and it was a hard pull for the increase.  I have never once seen an option online to ask for a CLI and they've never offered one automatically.  The only thing that is unique to this card that I don't have with any others is that they give 2 pts for drugstore purchases. None of my other cards do anything special for drugstores.  Other than that, I don't like the card or Chase very much.  YMMV, but if you have a good credit score and no baddies, there are quite a few cards out there that would probably benefit you more than this one.

Re: Amazon.com Chase Visa card questions

I have one of these cards. Chase auto rasied my limit when my balance got to 75% of my limit because of a large purchase. This was about 6 or 8 months ago.

Other than a ratejack and then a rateunjack, Chase has been good to me.  Friends of mine, though, have seen their auto CLIs as few and far between.  Not sure why they choose some and not others, but I suspect they like to see you use it on Amazon.com.  I use it on Amazon.com a lot and they always seem to raise my limit.  Wish they would do that on my Freedom, though.  Smiley Sad

A CLI request that you call in is a hard pull, unfortunately.  Definitely use the backdoor number when you call, though.  They seem pretty good.

Re: Amazon.com Chase Visa card questions

I have decided that I'm OK without a Chase CLI. I've been told by several CSR's that World and Signature cards require a minimum $5K CL. If so, as long as my Freedom pokes along at $3,500, I'm safe! Smiley Very Happy

Yep, $3.5K in April of 2008, and I expect it will be at $3.5K when they screw down my coffin lid. Smiley Wink I am SO not giving up a hard inq for a CLI that I don't need.

3.2k on chase AMZ with no change in 18 months, so figured, request CLI just one time to see if it could be worthwhile:  denied with EQ HP (for a CLI I didn't need just wanted all majors to be at 5k+ bozo move on my part to take a hit for a denial though Smiley Indifferent
