Yep, $3.5K in April of 2008, and I expect it will be at $3.5K when they screw down my coffin lid. I am SO not giving up a hard inq for a CLI that I don't need.

3.2k on chase AMZ with no change in 18 months, so figured, request CLI just one time to see if it could be worthwhile:  denied with EQ HP (for a CLI I didn't need just wanted all majors to be at 5k+ bozo move on my part to take a hit for a denial though )

I was getting ready to cancel the fool thing until they finally started giving me the quarterly 5% deal.

The card started out as a Chase Borders Visa and was converted to a Freedom when the Borders program was ended. It was a dud for months and months until they finally decided that I was acceptable and let me sit with the grownups.

I have the Chase Amazon card and my CL has been at 2K since I opened. Haven't wanted, nor asked for a CLI, as I've been at or over the limit in the past and am sure they would deny. It's one of my higher CLIs, so I can't complain.

I never ask for a CLI and the one time I did, I got denied, which I figured would happen. Paying off cards and putting them away.

I'm wondering if Chase doesn't handle their Amazon portfolio a little differently than they do their Freedom.

Chase Amazon was the first credit card I applied for right after returning from a 6 year deployment and finding a totally nekkid credit file.  I applied and got an instant online rejection.  Called the backdoor number and the analysts very nicely explained why, but still no go.

Three months later I got the card I was rejected for in the mail.  I called in and asked the analyst if maybe they hadn't made a mistake here and she says, "Chase never makes mistakes."  Ok.  Yeah, right.  Thankyouverymuch.

Does Amazon.com have any input with Chase?  Do they look and see you spend the equivalent of a mortgage payment on Amazon.com every month?

While I can only assume that Amazon has at least some input into the card, it cannot be too big. In my case, Chase nearly ruined the starting period promotion, and they nag me relatively often to use the card at other places than just Amazon. That sounds more like original Chase.
