Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

If you do A LOT of shopping on Amazon and never carry a balance. Personally I wouldn't bother, but it might make sense for someone else. Does it fit your needs?

Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

If your looking for a card keep in mind that the Chase Freedom and Discover it both have 5% at Amazon this quarter. Plus the Freedom has a better sign up bonus and pairs with the CSP rather nicely.

edit: Just noticed you have a Freedom. I saw the CSP, but missed the other lol. Why get the Amazon card right now when the Freedom is 5%?

Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

The cash+ is a better card for amazon shopping, especially if you have the uncapped 5%. Otherwise, the amazon visa is great, especially if you shop a lot on amazon.

Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

I have the Chase Amazon VISA and use it ONLY at amazon.com (3x points).

It used to be my main card, but now I use a 2%-cashback-on-all-purchases card as my main.

Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

Depends on how much you shop and of course your other cards.   Focusing on Amazon purchases, as the other features of the Chase card are minor, US Bank Cash Plus gives you 5% on up to $8,000 a year (or rather $2,000 per quarter) for new applicants, Sallie Mae gives you 5% on $9,000 ($750 per month).  So only if you spend a lot more is the Chase card worth while (and anyway get those two first for the extra 2%).

Others have mentioned Discover IT and Freedom, they cap up lower, but if you have them anyway, they reduce the need for the Amazon card even more.

As noted in various blogs, this card is strange in that it doesn't give the best value available in its focus area!

Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

I have often thought about this card because I'm obsessed with Amazon and am Prime and find myself spending probably $400+ a month... I do the subscribe and save now too (AMAZING.. look into it!!!)

Anyway but we also have Discover it and Freedom so AT LEAST until Jan. probably not worth applying since we are currently getting 5% but we just tested out Amazon FRESH the new grocery delivery they are testing in LA and Seattle Markets (I hear now expanding quickly because it's so great) and I think we are going to start using it pretty full time so now that will make Amazon Visa probably fully worth it since our 6% Grocery Amex BCP will not be so useful unless I go through the trouble to go get Amazon Gift Cards at grocery store with Amex. But as others have said we would use it for ONLY Amazon purchases as we now have Fidelity Amex 2% for all other purchases!!!

Re: Amazon.com Visa Card

Sallie Mae with a $750 cap per month on 5% Bookstores is probably best. Its easy to obtain (i've seen 654 fico get approved for $1000 on a certain database of credit pulls). The only problem is if you need to buy big ticket items (HDTV) or a huge amount each month.

US Bank Cash+ is good because the $2000 cap is quarterly. However it can take a while to obtain this card. You need a $5000 credit limit and a $30,000 income before you can request a PC to the Cash+.

Chase Amazon card gives much less cash back, but I believe it is uncapped. If the caps on the previous two cards are likely to seriously affect you on a regular basis, then you might want this one as a supplimentary card. But you should still consider getting at least the Sallie Mae and using that each month for the 5% cash back until you hit  the $750 spend limit.
