A few days ago I accidentally redeemed some MRs at Amazon. I was trying to just use 1 point to get 40% off but instead used all points and the item wasn't even eligible for 40% off. I cancelled the order within a few minutes and it never shipped. I placed a second order using the same card and received the item.
Have others had their MRs returned after cancelling an order? Or am I stuck with that poor redemption? Two transactions posted on Amex, both getting credited. Was my mistake to use the same card for the second transaction?

No real answer, however I would have used a different card if making back to back purchases, after canceling an order. Probably will return the MR's, might take a month.
Off topic but Amazon related:
Ordered a 3 ton floor jack from Amazon and received a motorized height adjustable table the other day. No issue returning however another two weeks out for my delivery of the jack. Amazon has not been there for my last couple of purchases, not impressed this year with them. Prices are also not as competitive as I remember. Maybe just getting old and a bad memory.

Just to play devil's advocate here but lately I've noticed good help is hard to find. Everywhere. And inflation is real.

I also think Amazon has been less competitive but it's had to tell with inflation. I also think they use dynamic per customer pricing for some items.
I do have an Amazon shopping tip for everyone though.
Every time I shop at Amazon I go to the My Account page and click on the "Buy Again" tab. What comes up is a fairly long list of things I have bought in the past. Every time I look I see offers with a small green banner and a check box offering me a discount on those select items. I usually have five to ten offers every time I look. If it's a really good deal and I don't need the item yet I'll usually buy it and set it aside for later. Since prices have been going up this makes sense to me (provided the shelf life is long enough). I have noticed that often when I buy something they will offer the same item at a slightly better price a few days later. It's almost as if they realize I already have enough of that item so they sweeten the pot so to speak. I buy a lot of Tide this way. I'm always happy to avoid lugging around heavy bottles of Tide.
If you do this you only get the discount on one individual item per order. Sometimes if you're fast you can place a few separate orders with the discount before it disappears. You can get the discount(s) for multiple different items in the order but only one per specific product per order.
For returns, you can choose the refund method (to the origin payment card or as Amazon GC). I am not sure about the cancellation. The best way to follow-up is to contact the Amazon customer service via chat or phone. They are quick to resolve such issues. The majority of refunds would be done within 48h (but not a month).
